<p rend="subhead">Poṭṭhapādaparibbājakavatthuvaṇṇanā</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="406"><hi rend="paranum">406</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi> Evaṃ <pb ed="M" n="2.0368" /><pb ed="V" n="2.0324" /> mahāsīhanādasuttaṃ saṃvaṇṇetvā idāni poṭṭhapādasuttaṃ saṃvaṇṇento yathānupubbaṃ saṃvaṇṇanokāsassa pattabhāvaṃ vibhāvetuṃ, mahāsīhanādasuttassānantaraṃ saṅgītassa suttassa poṭṭhapādasuttabhāvaṃ vā pakāsetuṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘evaṃ me sutaṃ…pe… sāvatthiyanti poṭṭhapādasutta’’</hi>nti āha. ‘‘Sāvatthiya’’nti idaṃ samīpatthe bhummanti dassetuṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘sāvatthiṃ upanissāyā’’</hi>ti vuttaṃ, cīvarādipaccayapaṭibaddhatāya upanissayaṃ katvāti attho. <hi rend="bold">Jeto</hi> nāma rājakumāro, tena ropitattā saṃvaḍḍhitattā paripālitattā jetassa vanaṃ upavananti atthamāha <hi rend="bold">‘‘jetassa kumārassa vane’’</hi>ti. Sudatto nāma gahapati anāthānaṃ piṇḍassa dāyakattā <hi rend="bold">anāthapiṇḍiko.</hi> Tena jetassa hatthato aṭṭhārasahiraññakoṭisantharaṇena taṃ kiṇitvā aṭṭhārasahiraññakoṭīheva senāsanaṃ kārāpetvā aṭṭhārasahiraññakoṭīheva vihāramahaṃ niṭṭhāpetvā evaṃ catupaññāsahiraññakoṭipariccāgena so ārāmo buddhappamukhassa bhikkhusaṅghassa niyyātito. Tenāha <hi rend="bold">‘‘anāthapiṇḍikena gahapatinā ārāmo kārito’’</hi>ti. Pupphaphalapallavādiguṇasampattiyā, pāṇino nivāsaphāsutādinā vā visesena pabbajitā tato tato āgamma ramanti anukkaṇṭhitā hutvā nivasanti etthāti <hi rend="bold">ārāmo. </hi> Atha vā yathāvuttaguṇasampattiyā tattha tattha gatepi attano abbhantare ānetvā rametīti <hi rend="bold">ārāmo.</hi></p>

<p rend="bodytext">Phoṭo yassa pādesu jātoti <hi rend="bold">poṭṭhapādo.</hi> Phoṭo poṭṭhoti hi pariyāyo. Paribbājako duvidho channaparibbājako, acchannaparibbājako ca. Tattha acchannaparibbājakopi acelako ājīvakoti duvidho. Tesu acelako sabbena sabbaṃ naggo, ājīvako pana upari ekameva vatthaṃ upakacchakantare pavesetvā pariharati, heṭṭhā naggo. Ayaṃ pana duvidhopesa na hotīti vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘channaparibbājako’’</hi>ti, vatthacchāyāchādanapabbajjūpagatattā channaparibbājakasaṅkhyaṃ gatoti attho <pb ed="V" n="2.0325" />. <hi rend="bold">Brāhmaṇamahāsālo</hi>ti mahāvibhavatāya mahāsārataṃ patto brāhmaṇo. <hi rend="bold">Gaṇācariyo</hi>ti <pb ed="M" n="2.0369" /> sāpekkhatāya samāso. <hi rend="bold">Samaya</hi>nti sāmaññaniddeso, ekasesaniddeso vā, taṃ taṃ samayanti attho. <hi rend="bold">Pavadantī</hi>ti pakārato vadanti, attanā attanā uggahitaniyāmena yathā tathā samayaṃ vadantīti attho. <hi rend="bold">Tārukkho</hi>ti tassa nāmaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Pabhuti</hi> saddena todeyyajāṇusoṇīsoṇadaṇḍakūṭadantādike saṅgaṇhāti, <hi rend="bold">ādi</hi>saddena pana channaparibbājakādike.<hi rend="bold"> Tinduko</hi> nāma kāḷakkhandharukkho. <hi rend="bold">Cīra</hi>nti panti. Tindukā cīraṃ ettha santīti <hi rend="bold">tindukacīro.</hi> Tathā ekā sālā etthāti <hi rend="bold">ekasālako.</hi> Bhūtapubbagatiyā tamatthaṃ vitthārato dassento <hi rend="bold">‘‘yasmā’’</hi>tiādimāha. <hi rend="bold">Iti katvā</hi>ti iminā kāraṇena. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Tasmi’’</hi>ntiādinā yathāpāṭhaṃ vibhatyantadassanaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Anekākārānavasesañeyyatthavibhāgato, aparāparuppattito ca bhagavato ñāṇaṃ loke patthaṭamiva hotīti vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘sabbaññutaññāṇaṃ pattharitvā’’</hi>ti, yato tassa ñāṇajālatā vuccati. Veneyyānaṃ tadantogadhabhāvo heṭṭhā vuttova. Veneyyasattapariggaṇhanatthaṃ samannāhāre kate paṭhamaṃ nesaṃ veneyyabhāveneva upaṭṭhānaṃ hoti, atha saraṇagamanādivasena kiccanipphatti vīmaṃsīyatīti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘kinnu kho bhavissatīti upaparikkhanto’’</hi>ti. <hi rend="bold">Nirodha</hi>nti saññānirodhaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Nirodhā vuṭṭhānanti</hi> tato nirodhato vuṭṭhānaṃ saññuppattiṃ. <hi rend="bold">Sabbabuddhānaṃ ñāṇena saṃsanditvā</hi>ti yathā te nirodhaṃ, nirodhato vuṭṭhānañca byākariṃsu, byākarissanti ca, tathā byākaraṇavasena saṃsanditvā. <hi rend="bold">Katipāhaccayenā</hi>ti dvīhatīhaccayena. Pāḷiyameva hi imamatthaṃ vakkhati. <hi rend="bold">Saraṇaṃ gamissatī</hi>ti ‘‘saraṇa’’miti gamissati. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Hatthisāriputto</hi>ti hatthisārino putto’’ti (dī. ni. ṭī. 1.406) ācariyena vuttaṃ. Adhunā pana <hi rend="bold">‘‘citto hatthisāriputto’’</hi> tveva pāṭho dissati, citto nāma hatthācariyassa puttoti attho.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Surattadupaṭṭa</hi>nti rajanena sammā rattaṃ diguṇaṃ antaravāsakaṃ parivattanavasena <hi rend="bold">nivāsetvā. ‘‘Yugandharapabbataṃ parikkhipitvā’’</hi>ti idaṃ parikappavacanaṃ ‘‘tādiso atthi ce, taṃ viyā’’ti. <hi rend="bold">Meghavaṇṇa</hi>nti rattameghavaṇṇaṃ, sañjhāpabhānurañjitameghasaṅkāsanti attho. Paṭhamena cettha saṇṭhānasampattiṃ dasseti, dutiyena vaṇṇasampattiṃ. <hi rend="bold">Ekaṃsavaragata</hi>nti vāmaṃsavarappavattaṃ. Tathā hi <hi rend="bold">suttanipātaṭṭhakathāyaṃ vaṅgīsasuttavaṇṇanāyaṃ</hi> vuttaṃ ‘‘ekaṃsanti <pb ed="M" n="2.0370" /> ca vāmaṃsaṃ pārupitvā ṭhitassetaṃ adhivacanaṃ. Yato yathā vāmaṃsaṃ pārupitvā ṭhitaṃ hoti, tathā cīvaraṃ katvāti evamassattho veditabbo’’ti [su. ni. aṭṭha. nigrodhakappasutta (vaṅgīsasutta) vaṇṇanā] tattha <hi rend="bold">eta</hi>nti ‘‘ekaṃsaṃ cīvaraṃ katvā’’ti vacanaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Yato</hi>ti yathāvuttavacanassa pārupitvā ṭhitasseva adhivacanattā <pb ed="V" n="2.0326" /> evamassa attho veditabboti sambandho. <hi rend="bold">Paccaggha</hi>nti ekaṃ katvā anadhiṭṭhitakāle pāṭekkaṃ mahagghaṃ, <hi rend="bold">paccagghaṃ</hi> vā abhinavaṃ, abbhuṇhe taṅkhaṇe nibbattanti attho. Purimañcettha atthavikappaṃ keci na icchati. Tathā hi ācariyeneva <hi rend="bold">udānaṭṭhakathāyaṃ</hi> vuttaṃ ‘‘paccaggheti abhinave, paccekaṃ mahagghatāya paccaggheti keci, taṃ na sundaraṃ. Na hi buddhā bhagavanto mahagghaṃ paṭiggaṇhanti, paribhuñjanti cā’’ti, idhāpi tena pacchimoyeva atthavikappo gahito. Abhinavatāya ‘‘paccaggha’’nti ca idaṃ ādito tathā laddhavohārena, anaññaparibhogatāya ca vuttaṃ, tathā vā satthu adhiṭṭhānena taṃ pattaṃ sabbakālaṃ ‘‘paccaggha’’ntveva vuccati. <hi rend="bold">Selamayapatta</hi>nti muggavaṇṇasilāmayaṃ catumahārājadattiyaṃ pattaṃ. Ayameva hi bhagavatā niccaparibhutto patto <hi rend="bold">samacittasuttavaṇṇanā</hi>dīsupi (a. ni. aṭṭha. 2.2.37) tathā vuttattā.</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="407"><hi rend="paranum">407</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi><hi rend="bold">Attano rucivasena</hi> ajjhāsayavasena, na parehi ussāhitoti adhippāyo. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Atippagabhāvameva disvā’’</hi>ti ca idaṃ bhūtakathanaṃ na tāva bhikkhācaraṇavelā sampattāti dassanatthaṃ. Bhagavā hi tadā kālasseva vihārato nikkhanto ‘‘vāsanābhāgiyāya dhammadesanāya poṭṭhapādaṃ anuggaṇhissāmī’’ti. Pāḷiyaṃ <hi rend="bold">atippago kho</hi>ti ettha <hi rend="bold">‘‘pago’’</hi>ti idaṃ <hi rend="bold">kaccāyanamatena</hi> pa-iccupasaggato o-kāraga-kārāgamane siddhaṃ. Pa-saddoyeva pātoatthaṃ vadati. Aññesaṃ pana saddavidūnaṃ matena pātopadamiva nepātikaṃ. Teneva tattha tattha <hi rend="bold">aṭṭhakathāsu</hi> (dī. ni. aṭṭha. 3.1) vuttaṃ ‘‘atippago khoti ativiya pāto’’ti. Apica paṭhamaṃ gacchati divasabhāvena pavattatīti <hi rend="bold">pago</hi>ti nibbacanaṃ iminā dassitaṃ. Duvidho khalusaddo viya hi pagoti saddo nāmanipātopasaggavasena tividho. Evañhi idha ‘‘atippagabhāvameva disvā’’ti vacanaṃ upapannaṃ hoti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Yaṃnūnā</hi>ti <pb ed="M" n="2.0371" /> esa nipāto aññattha saṃsayaparidīpano, idha pana saṃsayapatirūpakaparidīpanova. Kasmā ‘‘saṃsayaparidīpane’’ti vuttaṃ, nanu buddhānaṃ saṃsayo natthīti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘buddhānañcā’’</hi>tiādi. <hi rend="bold">Saṃsayo nāma natthi</hi> bodhimūle eva tassa samugghāṭitattā. <hi rend="bold">Parivitakkapubbabhāgo</hi>ti adhippetakiccassa pubbabhāge pavattaparivitakko. <hi rend="bold">Esā</hi>ti ‘‘karissāma, na karissāmā’’tiādiko esa cittācāro <hi rend="bold">sabbabuddhānaṃ labbhati</hi> sambhavati vicāraṇavaseneva pavattanato, na pana saṃsayavasena. <hi rend="bold">Tenāhā</hi>ti yenesa sabbabuddhānaṃ labbhati, tena bhagavā evamāhāti imameva pāḷiṃ imassa atthassa sādhakaṃ karoti. Ayaṃ <hi rend="bold">aṭṭhakathāto</hi> aparo nayo – <hi rend="bold">yaṃnūnā</hi>ti parikappane nipāto. ‘‘Upasaṅkameyya’’nti kiriyāpadena vuccamānoyeva hi attho anena <pb ed="V" n="2.0327" /> jotīyati. Tasmā ahaṃ yaṃnūna yadi pana upasaṅkameyyaṃ sādhu vatāti yojanā. ‘‘Yadi panā’’ti idampi tena samānatthanti vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘yadi panāhanti attho’’</hi>ti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="408"><hi rend="paranum">408</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi><hi rend="bold">Assā</hi>ti paribbājakaparisāya. <hi rend="bold">Uddhaṃgamanavasenā</hi>ti unnatabahulatāya uggantvā uggantvā pavattanavasena. <hi rend="bold">Disāsu patthaṭavasenā</hi>ti vipulabhāvena bhūtaparamparāya sabbadisāsu pattharaṇavasena. Ettha ca pāḷiyaṃ yathā unnatapāyo saddo unnādo, evaṃ vipulabhāvena uparūpari pavattopi unnādoyevāti tadubhayaṃ ekajjhaṃ katvā <hi rend="bold">‘‘unnādiniyā’’</hi>ti vuttaṃ, puna tadubhayameva vibhāgaṃ katvā <hi rend="bold">‘‘uccāsaddamahāsaddāyā’’</hi>ti. Ato pāḷinayānurūpameva atthaṃ vivaratīti daṭṭhabbaṃ. Idāni paribbājakaparisāya uccāsaddamahāsaddatākāraṇaṃ, tassa ca pavattiākāraṃ dassento <hi rend="bold">‘‘tesañhī’’</hi>tiādimāha. <hi rend="bold">Bālātape</hi>ti abhinavuggatasūriyātape. <hi rend="bold">Kāmassādo</hi> nāma kāmaguṇassādo. <hi rend="bold">Bhavassādo</hi> nāma kāmarāgādisahagato bhavesu assādo.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Sūriyuggamane khajjopanamiva nippabhataṃ sandhāya vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘khajjopanakūpamā jātā’’</hi>ti. <hi rend="bold">Lābhasakkāropi no parihīno</hi>ti attho <hi rend="bold">bāverujātakena</hi> (jā. 1.4.154) dīpetabbo. <hi rend="bold">Parisadoso</hi>ti parisāya pavattadoso.</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="409"><hi rend="paranum">409</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi><hi rend="bold">Saṇṭhapesī</hi>ti saññamanavasena sammadeva ṭhapesi. Saṇṭhapanañcettha tiracchānakathāya aññamaññasmiṃ agāravassa cajāpanavasena ācārasikkhāpanaṃ <pb ed="M" n="2.0372" />, yathāvuttadosassa nigūhanañca hotīti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘sikkhāpesī’’</hi>tiādi. <hi rend="bold">Na</hi>nti parisaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Appasadda</hi>nti nissaddaṃ uccāsaddamahāsaddābhāvaṃ. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Eko nisīdatī’’</hi>tiādi atthāpattidassanaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Vuddhi</hi>nti lābhaguṇavuddhiṃ. <hi rend="bold">Patthayamāno</hi>ti patthayanahetu. Mānante hi lakkhaṇe, hetumhi ca icchanti saddavidū. Idāni tamatthaṃ vitthāretuṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘paribbājakā kirā’’</hi>tiādi āraddhaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Aparaddha</hi>nti aparajjhitaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Nappamajjantī</hi>ti pamādaṃ na āpajjanti, na agāravaṃ karontīti vuttaṃ hoti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="410"><hi rend="paranum">410</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi><hi rend="bold">No āgate ānando</hi>ti amhākaṃ bhagavati āgate ānando pīti hoti. ‘‘Cirassaṃ kho bhante bhagavā imaṃ pariyāyamakāsī’’ti vacanaṃ pubbepi tattha āgatapubbattā vuttavacanamiva hotīti codanaṃ samuṭṭhāpetvā pariharanto <hi rend="bold">‘‘kasmā āhā’’</hi>tiādimāha. <hi rend="bold">Piyasamudācārā</hi>ti piyālāpā. <hi rend="bold">Tasmā</hi>ti tathā piyasamudācārassa pavattanato. Na kevalaṃ ayameva, atha kho aññepi pabbajitā yebhuyyena bhagavato apacitiṃ karontevāti tadaññesampi bāhullakammena tadatthaṃ sādhetuṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘bhagavantañhī’’</hi>tiādi vuttaṃ. Tattha kāraṇamāha <hi rend="bold">‘‘uccākulīnatāyā’’</hi>ti <pb ed="V" n="2.0328" />, mahāsammatarājato paṭṭhāya asambhinnakhattiyakulatāyāti attho. Tathā hi soṇadaṇḍena vuttaṃ ‘‘samaṇo khalu bho gotamo uccākulā pabbajito asambhinnakhattiyakulā’’ti, (dī. ni. 1.304) tena sāsane appasannānampi kulagāravena bhagavati apacitiṃ dasseti. <hi rend="bold">Etasmiṃ antare kā nāma kathā</hi>ti yathāvuttaparicchedabbhantare kīdisā nāma kathā. <hi rend="bold">Vippakatā</hi>ti āraddhā hutvā apariyositā. ‘‘Kā kathā vippakatā’’ti pana vadanto atthato tassā pariyosāpanaṃ paṭijānāti nāma. Kā kathāti ca avisesacodanā, tasmā yassā tassā sabbassāpi kathāya pariyosāpanaṃ paṭiññātaṃ hoti, tañca paṭijānanaṃ padesaññuno avisaṃyanti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘yāva…pe… sabbaññupavāraṇaṃ pavāresī’’</hi>ti. <hi rend="bold">Esā</hi>ti paribbājakaparisāya kathitā rājakathādikā. <hi rend="bold">Nissārā</hi>ti niratthakabhāvena sārarahitā.</p>

<p rend="subhead">Abhisaññānirodhakathāvaṇṇanā</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="411"><hi rend="paranum">411</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi> ‘‘Tiṭṭhatesā’’ti etassa āpannamatthaṃ dassento <hi rend="bold">‘‘sace’’</hi>tiādimāha. <hi rend="bold">Sukāraṇa</hi>nti sundaraṃ atthāvahaṃ hitāvahaṃ kāraṇaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Yatthā</hi>ti aññatarissaṃ <pb ed="M" n="2.0373" /> sālāyaṃ. Nānātitthasaṅkhātāsu laddhīsu niyuttāti <hi rend="bold">nānātitthiyā</hi>ṇiyasaddena. Ṇikasaddena vā ka-kārassa ya-kāraṃ katvā yathā ‘‘antiyo’’ti. ‘‘Ayaṃ kiṃ vadati ayaṃ kiṃ vadatī’’ti kutūhalaṃ kolāhalamettha atthīti <hi rend="bold">kotūhalā,</hi> sā eva sālā <hi rend="bold">kotūhalasālā</hi>ti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘kotūhaluppattiṭṭhānato’’</hi>ti. <hi rend="bold">Upasaggamattaṃ</hi> dhātvatthānuvattanato. Saññāsīsenāyaṃ desanā, tasmā saññāsahagatā sabbepi dhammā gayhanti, tattha pana cittaṃ padhānanti vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘cittanirodhe’’</hi>ti. Pahānavasena pana accantanirodhassa tehi anadhippetattā, avisayattā ca <hi rend="bold">‘‘khaṇikanirodhe’’</hi>ti āha. Kāmaṃ sopi tesaṃ avisayova, atthato pana nirodhakathā vuccamānā tattheva tiṭṭhati, tasmā atthāpattimattaṃ pati tathā vuttanti veditabbaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Tassā</hi>ti abhisaññānirodhakathāya. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Kittighoso’’</hi>ti ‘aho buddhānubhāvo, bhavantarapaṭicchannampi kāraṇaṃ evaṃ hatthāmalakaṃ viya paccakkhato dasseti, sāvake ca edise saṃvarasamādāne patiṭṭhāpetī’ti thutighoso yāva bhavaggā <hi rend="bold">pattharatī</hi>ti. Ācariyena vuttaṃ. Idāni pana ‘‘sakalajambudīpe bhagavato kathākittighoso pattharatī’’ti pāṭho dissati. <hi rend="bold">Paṭibhāgakiriya</hi>nti paḷāsavasena paṭibhāgabhūtaṃ payogaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Bhavantarasamaya</hi>nti tatra tatra vuṭṭhānasamayaṃ abhūtaparikappitaṃ kiñci ussāriyavatthuṃ attano samayaṃ katvā kathenti. <hi rend="bold">Kiñcideva sikkhāpada</hi>nti ‘‘ekamūlakena bhavitabbaṃ, ettakaṃ velaṃ ekasmiṃyeva ṭhāne nisīditabba’’nti evamādikaṃ <pb ed="V" n="2.0329" /> kiñcideva kāraṇaṃ sikkhākoṭṭhāsaṃ katvā <hi rend="bold">paññapenti</hi>. <hi rend="bold">Nirodhakatha</hi>nti nirodhasamāpattikathaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Tesū</hi>ti kotūhalasālāyaṃ sannipatitesu nānātitthiyasamaṇabrāhmaṇesu. <hi rend="bold">Ekacce</hi>ti eke. <hi rend="bold">Purimo</hi>ti ‘‘ahetū appaccayā purisassa saññā uppajjantipi nirujjhantipī’’tiādinā vuttavādī. <hi rend="bold">Etthā</hi>ti catūsu vādīsu. Yvāyaṃ idha uppajjatīti sambandho. <hi rend="bold">Samāpatti</hi>nti asaññībhavāvahaṃ vāyokasiṇaparikammaṃ, ākāsakasiṇaparikammaṃ vā rūpāvacaracatutthajjhānasamāpattiṃ, pañcamajjhānasamāpattiṃ vā. <hi rend="bold">Nirodhe</hi>ti heṭṭhā vuttanayena saññānirodhe. <hi rend="bold">Hetuṃ apassanto</hi>ti yena hetunā asaññībhave saññāya nirodho sabbaso anuppādo, yena ca tato cutassa idha pañcavokārabhave <pb ed="M" n="2.0374" /> saññāya uppādo, tadubhayampi hetuṃ avisayatāya apassanto.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Dutiyo</hi>ti ‘‘saññā hi bho purisassa attā’’tiādinā vuttavādī. <hi rend="bold">Na</hi>nti paṭhamavādiṃ. <hi rend="bold">Nisedhetvā</hi>ti ‘‘na kho pana metaṃ bho evaṃ bhavissatī’’ti evaṃ paṭikkhipitvā. <hi rend="bold">Migasiṅgatāpasassā</hi>ti evaṃnāmakatāpasassa. Tassa kira matthake migasiṅgākārena dve cūḷā uṭṭhahiṃsu, ‘‘isisiṅgo’’tipi tassa nāmaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Asaññakabhāva</hi>nti muñchāpattiyā kiriyāmayasaññāvasena vigatasaññibhāvaṃ. Vakkhati hi ‘‘visaññī hutvā’’ti. Cattālīsanipāte āgatanayena <hi rend="bold">migasiṅgatāpasavatthuṃ</hi> saṅkhepato dassetuṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘migasiṅgatāpaso kirā’’</hi>tiādi vuttaṃ. Vikkhambhanavasena kilesānaṃ santāpanato <hi rend="bold">attantapo.</hi> Dukkaratapatāya <hi rend="bold">ghoratapo</hi> tibbatapo. Nibbisevanabhāvāpādanena sabbaso milāpitacakkhāditikkhindriyatāya <hi rend="bold">paramadhitindriyo.</hi><hi rend="bold">Sakkavimāna</hi>nti paṇḍukambalasilāsanaṃ sandhāyāha. Tañhi tathārūpapaccayā kadāci uṇhaṃ, kadāci thaddhaṃ, kadāci calitaṃ hoti. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Sakka…pe… patthetī’’</hi>ti ayoniso cintetvā <hi rend="bold">pesesi</hi>. <hi rend="bold">Bhaggo</hi>ti bhañjitakusalajjhāsayo, adhunā pana ‘‘laggo’’ti pāṭhaṃ likhanti. <hi rend="bold">Tena dibbaphassenā</hi>ti hatthaggahaṇamattadibbaphassena. <hi rend="bold">Ta</hi>nti tathā saññāpaṭilābhaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Evamāhā</hi>ti evaṃ ‘‘saññā hi bho purisassa attā’’tiādinā ākārena saññānirodhamāha. Imināva nayena ito paresupi dvīsu ṭhānesu pāḷimāharitvā yojanā veditabbā.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Tatiyo</hi>ti ‘‘santi hi bho samaṇabrāhmaṇā’’tiādinā vuttavādī. <hi rend="bold">Āthabbaṇapayoga</hi>nti āthabbaṇavedavihitaṃ āthabbaṇikānaṃ visaññibhāvāpādanappayogaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Upakaḍḍhanaṃ</hi> āharaṇaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Apakaḍḍhanaṃ</hi> apaharaṇaṃ <pb ed="V" n="2.0330" />. <hi rend="bold">Āthabbaṇaṃ payojetvā</hi>ti āthabbaṇavede āgataṃ aggijuhanapubbakaṃ mantapadaṃ payojetvā sīsacchinnatādidassanena saññānirodhamāha. <hi rend="bold">Tassā</hi>ti yassa sīsacchinnatādi dassitaṃ, tassa.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Catuttho</hi>ti ‘‘santi hi bho devatā mahiddhikā’’tiādinā vuttavādī. <hi rend="bold">Yakkhadāsīna</hi>nti devadāsīnaṃ, yā ‘‘yogavatiyo’’tipi vuccanti, yoginiyotipi <pb ed="M" n="2.0375" /> pākaṭā. <hi rend="bold">Madanidda</hi>nti surāmadanimittakaṃ supanaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Devatūpahāra</hi>nti naccanagāyanādinā devatānaṃ pūjaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Surāpāti</hi>nti pātipuṇṇaṃ suraṃ. <hi rend="bold">Divā</hi>ti atidivā, ussūreti attho. <hi rend="bold">Ta</hi>nti tathā supitvā vuṭṭhahanaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Suttakāle</hi> devatānaṃ saññāpakaḍḍhanavasena <hi rend="bold">nirodhaṃ samāpannā, pabuddhakāle</hi> saññupakaḍḍhanavasena <hi rend="bold">nirodhā vuṭṭhitā</hi>ti <hi rend="bold">maññamāno</hi>ti adhippāyo.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Eḷamūgakathā viyā</hi>ti imesaṃ paṇḍitamānīnaṃ kathā andhabālakathāsadisī. <hi rend="bold">Cattāro nirodhe</hi>ti aññamaññavidhure cattāropi nirodhe. <hi rend="bold">Ekena bhavitabba</hi>nti ekasabhāveneva bhavitabbaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Na bahunā</hi>ti na ca aññamaññaviruddhena bahuvidhena nānāsabhāvena bhavitabbaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Tenāpi ekenā</hi>ti ekasabhāvabhūtena tenāpi nirodhena. <hi rend="bold">Aññenevā</hi>ti tehi vuttākārato aññākāreneva <hi rend="bold">bhavitabbaṃ. So</hi>ti ekasabhāvabhūto nirodho. <hi rend="bold">Aññatra sabbaññunā</hi>ti sabbaññubuddhaṃ ṭhapetvā. <hi rend="bold">Idhā</hi>ti kotūhalasālāyaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Ayaṃ nirodho ayaṃ nirodho</hi>ti dvikkhattuṃ byāpanicchāvacanaṃ satthā attano desanāvilāsena anekākāravokāraṃ nirodhaṃ vibhāvessatīti dassanatthaṃ kataṃ. <hi rend="bold">Aho nūnā</hi>ti ettha <hi rend="bold">aho</hi>ti acchariye nipāto, <hi rend="bold">nūnā</hi>ti anussaraṇe. Tasmā <hi rend="bold">aho nūna bhagavā</hi>ti anaññasādhāraṇadesanattā bhagavā nirodhampi aho acchariyaṃ katvā ārādheyya maññeti adhippāyo. <hi rend="bold">Aho nūna sugato</hi>ti etthāpi eseva nayo. Acchariyavibhāvanato eva cettha dvikkhattuṃ āmeḍitavacanaṃ. Acchariyatthopi hesa <hi rend="bold">aho</hi>saddo anussaraṇamukheneva poṭṭhapādena gahito. Tasmā vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘anussaraṇatthe nipātadvaya’’</hi>nti. <hi rend="bold">Tenā</hi>ti anussaraṇatthamukhena pavattanato. ‘‘Aho…pe… sugato’’ti vacanena etadahosīti yojanā. ‘‘Yaṃtaṃsaddā niccasambandhā’’ti sādhippāyaṃ yojanaṃ dassetuṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘yo etesa’’</hi>ntiādimāha. Kāladesapuggalādivibhāgena bahubhedattā <hi rend="bold">imesaṃ nirodhadhammāna</hi>nti bahutte sāmivacanaṃ, kusalasaddayoge cetaṃ bhummatthe daṭṭhabbaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Kusalo nipuṇo cheko</hi>ti pariyāyavacanametaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Aho nūna katheyyā</hi>ti acchariyaṃ katvā katheyya maññe. So sugatoti sambandho. <hi rend="bold">Ciṇṇavasitāyā</hi>ti nirodhasamāpattiyaṃ ciṇṇavasībhāvattā. <hi rend="bold">Sabhāvaṃ jānātī</hi>ti nirodhasabhāvaṃ yāthāvato jānāti.</p>

<p rend="subhead">Ahetukasaññuppādanirodhakathāvaṇṇanā</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="412"><hi rend="paranum">412</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi><hi rend="bold">Gharamajjheyeva</hi><pb ed="M" n="2.0376" /><pb ed="V" n="2.0331" /><hi rend="bold">pakkhalitā</hi>ti yathā gharato bahi gantukāmā purisā maggaṃ anotaritvā gharavivare samatale vivaṭaṅgaṇe eva pakkhalanaṃ pattā, evaṃsampadamidanti attho. Asādhāraṇo <hi rend="bold">hetu,</hi> sādhāraṇo <hi rend="bold">paccayo</hi>ti evamādivibhāgo aññatra vutto, idha pana tena vibhāgena payojanaṃ natthi saññāya akāraṇabhāvapaṭikkhepaparattā codanāyāti vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘kāraṇasseva nāma’’</hi>nti. Yaṃ pana pāḷiyaṃ vuttaṃ ‘‘sahetū hi poṭṭhapāda sappaccayā purisassa saññā uppajjantipi nirujjhantipī’’ti, tattha sahetū sappaccayā uppajjanti, uppannā pana nirujjhantiyeva, na tiṭṭhantīti dassanatthaṃ ‘‘nirujjhantipī’’ti vacanaṃ, na tu nirodhassa sahetusapaccayatādassanatthaṃ. Uppādoyeva hi sahetuko, na nirodho. Yadi hi nirodhopi sahetuko siyā, tassapi puna nirodhena bhavitabbaṃ aṅkurādīnaṃ puna aṅkurādinā viya, na ca tassa puna nirodho atthi, tasmā vuttanayeneva pāḷiyā attho veditabbo. Ayañca nayo khaṇanirodhavasena vutto. Yo pana yathāparicchinnakālavasena sabbaso anuppādanirodho, so ‘‘sahetuko’’ti veditabbo tathārūpāya paṭipattiyā vinā abhāvato. Tenāha bhagavā ‘‘sikkhā ekā saññā uppajjati, sikkhā ekā saññā nirujjhatī’’ti (dī. ni. 1.412) tato eva ca <hi rend="bold">aṭṭhakathāya</hi>mpi (dī. ni. aṭṭha. 1.413) vuttaṃ ‘‘saññāya sahetukaṃ uppādanirodhaṃ dīpetu’’nti. Etañhi pāḷivacanaṃ, aṭṭhakathāvacanañca anuppādanirodhaṃ sandhāya vuttanti daṭṭhabbaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Sikkhā</hi>ti hetvatthe paccattavacanaṃ, ya-kāralopo vā ‘‘saṅkhyāpi tamhā vanapattā pakkamitabba’’ntiādīsu (ma. ni. 1.192) viya. Hetubhāvo cassā upari āvi bhavissati. <hi rend="bold">Eka</hi>saddo ca aññapariyāyo, na saṅkhyāvācī ‘‘ittheke sato sattassā’’tiādīsu (dī. ni. 1.85-91, 94-98; ma. ni. 3.21) viyāti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘sikkhāya ekaccā saññā jāyantī’’</hi>ti. Sesapadesupi eseva nayo.</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="413"><hi rend="paranum">413</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi><hi rend="bold">Vitthāretukamyatā</hi>ti vitthāretukāmatāya. <hi rend="bold">Pucchāvasenā</hi>ti kathetukamyatāpucchāvasena, <hi rend="bold">vitthāretukamyatāpucchāvasenā</hi>ti vā samāso. ‘‘Poṭṭhapādassevāyaṃ pucchā’’ti āsaṅkāya ‘‘bhagavā avocā’’ti pāḷiyaṃ vuttaṃ. Saññāya…pe… dīpetuṃ tā dassentoti yojetabbaṃ <pb ed="M" n="2.0377" />. <hi rend="bold">Tatthā</hi>ti tassaṃ upari vakkhamānāya desanāya. <hi rend="bold">Tatiyā</hi>ti adhipaññāsikkhā āgatāti sambandho. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Ayaṃ…pe… desitoti ettha sammādiṭṭhisammāsaṅkappavasena āgatā.</hi> Kasmāti ce? <hi rend="bold">Pariyāpannattā,</hi> sabhāvato, upakārato ca yathārahaṃ paññākkhandhe avarodhattā saṅgahitattāti adhippāyo. Tathā hi <hi rend="bold">cūḷavedallasutte</hi> vuttaṃ ‘‘yā cāvuso visākha sammādiṭṭhi, yo ca sammāsaṅkappo <pb ed="V" n="2.0332" />, ime dhammā paññākkhandhe saṅgahitā’’ti (ma. ni. 1.462) kāmañcettha vuttanayena tissopi sikkhā āgatā, tathāpi adhicittasikkhāya eva abhisaññānirodho dassito. Itarā pana tassā sambhārabhāvena ānītāti ayamattho pāḷivasena veditabbo.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Pañcakāmaguṇikarāgo</hi>ti pañca kāmakoṭṭhāse ārabbha uppajjanakarāgo. <hi rend="bold">Asamuppannakāmacāro</hi>ti vattamānuppannatāvasena nasamuppanno yo koci kāmacāro, yā kāci lobhuppatti. Adhunā pana ‘‘asamuppannakāmarāgo’’ti pāṭho, so ayuttova atthato viruddhattā. Kāmarāgo cettha visayavasena niyamitattā kāmaguṇārammaṇova lobho daṭṭhabbo, kāmacāro pana jhānanikantibhavarāgādippabhedo sabbopi lobhacāro. Kāmanaṭṭhena, kāmesu pavattanaṭṭhena ca <hi rend="bold">kāmacāro.</hi> Sabbepi hi tebhūmakadhammā kāmanīyaṭṭhena kāmā. Yasmā ubhayesampi sahacaraṇañāyena kāmasaññābhāvo hoti, tasmā ‘‘kāmasaññā’’ti paduddhāraṃ katvā tadubhayameva niddiṭṭhanti veditabbaṃ. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Tatthā’’</hi>tiādi asamuppannakāmacārato pañcakāmaguṇikarāgassa visesadassanaṃ, asamuppannakāmacārasseva vā idhādhippetabhāvadassanaṃ. Kāmaṃ pañcakāmaguṇikarāgopi asamuppanno eva anāgāmimaggena samugghāṭīyati, tasmiṃ pana samugghāṭitepi na sabbo rāgo samugghāṭaṃ gacchati tassa aggamaggena samugghāṭitattā. Tasmā pañcakāmaguṇikarāgaggahaṇena itarassa sabbassa gahaṇaṃ na hotīti ubhayatthasādhāraṇena pariyāyena ubhayameva saṅgahetvā pāḷiyaṃ kāmasaññāggahaṇaṃ kataṃ, ato tadubhayaṃ sarūpato, visesato ca dassetvā sabbasaṅgāhikabhāvato <hi rend="bold">‘‘asamuppannakāmacāro pana imasmiṃ ṭhāne vaṭṭatī’’</hi>ti vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Tasmā</hi>ti asamuppannakāmacārasseva idha vaṭṭanato ayamattho veditabboti <pb ed="M" n="2.0378" /> yojanā. <hi rend="bold">Tassā</hi>ti paṭhamajjhānasamaṅgino puggalassa. <hi rend="bold">Sadisattā</hi>ti kāmasaññādibhāvena samānattā, etena pāḷiyaṃ ‘‘purimā’’ti idaṃ sadisakappanāvasena vuttanti dasseti. Anāgatā hi idha ‘‘nirujjhatī’’ti vuttā anuppādassa adhippetattā. Tasmā anāgatameva dassetuṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘anuppannāva nuppajjatī’’</hi>ti vuttaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Vivekajapītisukhasaṅkhātā</hi>ti vivekajapītisukhehi saha akkhātā, na vivekajapītisukhānīti akkhātā. Taṃsampayuttā hi saññāyeva idhādhippetā, na vivekajapītisukhāni. Atha vā vivekajapītisukhakoṭṭhāsikāti attho. <hi rend="bold">Saṅkhāta</hi>saddo hettha koṭṭhāsattho ‘‘adinnaṃ theyyasaṅkhātaṃ ādiyeyyā’’tiādīsu (pārā. 89, 91) viya. Kāmacchandādioḷārikaṅgappahānavasena nānatthasaññāpaṭighasaññāhi nipuṇatāya <hi rend="bold">sukhumā.</hi> Bhūtatāya <hi rend="bold">saccā.</hi> Tadevatthaṃ dasseti <hi rend="bold">‘‘bhūtā’’</hi>ti iminā. Sukhumabhāvena, paramatthabhāvena ca aviparītasabhāvāti attho. Evaṃ byāsavasena yathāpāṭhamatthaṃ dassetvā samāsavasenapi yathāpāṭhameva <pb ed="V" n="2.0333" /> dassento <hi rend="bold">‘‘atha vā’’</hi>tiādimāha. Samāsabyāsavasena hi dvidhā pāṭho dissati. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Kāmacchandādioḷārikaṅgappahānavasenā’’</hi>ti iminā sampayuttadhammānaṃ bhāvanānubhāvasiddhā, saññāya saṇhasukhumatā nīvaraṇavikkhambhanavasena viññāyatīti dasseti. <hi rend="bold">Bhūtatāyā</hi>ti sukhumabhāvena, paramatthabhāvena ca aviparītatāya, vijjamānatāya vā. <hi rend="bold">Vivekajehī</hi>ti nīvaraṇavivekato jātehi. Idāni jhānasamaṅgīvasena vuttassa dutiyapadassa atthaṃ dassetuṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘sā assā’’</hi>tiādi vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Sabbatthā</hi>ti sabbavāresu.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Samāpajjanādhiṭṭhānaṃ viya vuṭṭhānampijhāne pariyāpannaṃ hoti yathā taṃ dhammānaṃ bhaṅgakkhaṇo dhammesu, āvajjanapaccavekkhaṇāni pana na jhānapariyāpannāni, tasmā jhānapariyāpannameva vasīkaraṇaṃ gahetvā <hi rend="bold">‘‘samāpajjanto, adhiṭṭhahanto, vuṭṭhahanto ca sikkhatī’’</hi>ti vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Ta</hi>nti paṭhamajjhānaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Tena…pe… jhānenā</hi>ti idampi ‘‘sikkhā’’ti etassa saṃvaṇṇanāpadaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Tenā</hi>ti ca hetumhi karaṇavacanaṃ, paṭhamajjhānena hetunāti attho. Hetubhāvo cettha jhānassa vivekajapītisukhasukhumasaccasaññāya uppattiyā sahajātādipaccayabhāvo. Kāmasaññāya pana nirodhassa upanissayapaccayabhāvova. So ca kho suttantapariyāyena. Tathā ceva heṭṭhā saṃvaṇṇitaṃ <pb ed="M" n="2.0379" /> ‘‘tathārūpāya paṭipattiyā vinā abhāvato’’ti <hi rend="bold">etenupāyenā</hi>ti yvāyaṃ paṭhamajjhānatappaṭipakkhasaññāvasena ‘‘sikkhā ekā saññā uppajjati, sikkhā ekā saññā nirujjhatī’’ti ettha nayo vutto, etena nayena. <hi rend="bold">Sabbatthā</hi>ti sabbavāresu.</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="414"><hi rend="paranum">414</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi> Idāni ākiñcaññāyatanaparamāya eva saññāya dassane kāraṇaṃ vibhāvento <hi rend="bold">‘‘yasmā panā’’</hi>tiādimāha. Yasmā idañca…pe… uddhaṭanti sambandho. Kesaṃ panidaṃ aṅgato sammasananti vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘aṭṭhasamāpattiyā’’</hi>tiādi. <hi rend="bold">Aṅgato</hi>ti jhānaṅgato. Idañhi anupadadhammavipassanāya lakkhaṇavacanaṃ. Anupadadhammavipassanañhi karonto samāpattiṃ patvā aṅgatova sammasanaṃ karoti, na ca saññā samāpattiyā kiñci aṅgaṃ hoti. Atha ca panetaṃ vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘idañca saññā saññāti evaṃ aṅgato sammasanaṃ uddhaṭa’’</hi>nti, tasmā lakkhaṇavacanametaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Aṅgato</hi>ti vā avayavatoti attho, anupadadhammatoti vuttaṃ hoti. <hi rend="bold">Kalāpato</hi>ti samūhato. Yasmā panettha samāpattivasena taṃtaṃsaññānaṃ uppādanirodhe vuccamāne aṅgavasena so vutto hoti, tasmā ‘‘idañcā’’tiādinā aṅgatova sammasanaṃ dassetīti veditabbaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Tasmā</hi>ti saññāvaseneva aṅgato sammasanassa uddhaṭattā. <hi rend="bold">Tadevā</hi>ti ākiñcaññāyatanameva, na nevasaññānāsaññāyatanaṃ tattha paṭusaññābhāvato.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">‘‘Yo’’ti <pb ed="V" n="2.0334" /> vattabbe ‘‘yato’’ti vuttanti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘yo nāmā’’</hi>ti yathā ‘‘ādimhī’’ti vattabbe ‘‘ādito’’ti vuccati atthe pariggayhamāne yathāyuttavibhattiyāva to-saddassa labbhanato. <hi rend="bold">Nāma</hi>-saddo cettha kho-saddo viya vācāsiliṭṭhatāmattaṃ. Sassedanti <hi rend="bold">sakaṃ,</hi> attanā adhigatajhānaṃ, tasmiṃ saññā <hi rend="bold">sakasaññā,</hi> sā etassatthīti <hi rend="bold">sakasaññī</hi>ti vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘attano paṭhamajjhānasaññāya saññavā’’</hi>ti. Īkāro cettha upari vuccamānanirodhapādakatāya sātisayāya jhānasaññāya atthibhāvajotako daṭṭhabbo. Tenevāha <hi rend="bold">‘‘anupubbena saññaggaṃ phusatī’’</hi>tiādi. Tasmā tattha tattha sakasaññitāggahaṇena tasmiṃ tasmiṃ jhāne sabbaso suciṇṇavasībhāvo dīpitoti veditabbaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Lokiyāna</hi>nti niddhāraṇe sāmivacanaṃ, sāmiatthe eva vā. Yadaggena hi taṃ tesu seṭṭhaṃ, tadaggena tesampi seṭṭhanti. Vibhattāvadhiatthe vā sāmivacanaṃ <pb ed="M" n="2.0380" />. Ettha pana ‘‘lokiyāna’’nti visesanaṃ lokuttarasamāpattīhi tassa aseṭṭhabhāvato kataṃ. Sesaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘kiccakārakasamāpattīna’’</hi>nti pana visesanaṃ akiccakārakasamāpattito tassa aseṭṭhabhāvatoti daṭṭhabbaṃ. Akiccakārakatā cassā ‘‘yatheva hi tattha saññā, evaṃ phassādayopī’’ti, ‘‘yadaggena hi tattha dhammā saṅkhārāvasesabhāvappattiyā pakativipassakānaṃ sammasituṃ asakkuṇeyyarūpena ṭhitā, tadaggena heṭṭhimasamāpattidhammā viya paṭukiccakaraṇasamatthāpi na hontī’’ti ca <hi rend="bold">aṭṭhakathāsu</hi> (visuddhi. 1.287) paṭusaññākiccābhāvavacanato viññāyati. Svāyamattho <hi rend="bold">paramatthamañjūsāya</hi> nāma <hi rend="bold">visuddhimaggaṭīkāya</hi> āruppakathāyaṃ (visuddhi. ṭī. 1.286) ācariyena savisesaṃ vutto, tasmā tattha vuttanayeneva veditabbo. Keci pana ‘‘yathā heṭṭhimā heṭṭhimā samāpattiyo uparimānaṃ uparimānaṃ samāpattīnaṃ adhiṭṭhānakiccaṃ sādhenti, na evaṃ nevasaññānāsaññāyatanasamāpatti kassacipi adhiṭṭhānaṃ sādheti, tasmā sā akiccakārikā itarā kiccakārikā’’ti vadanti, tadayuttaṃ tassāpi vipassanācittaparidamanādīnaṃ adhiṭṭhānakiccasādhanato, tasmā purimoyeva attho yutto. Kasmā cetaṃ tesamagganti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘ākiñcaññāyatanasamāpattiya’’</hi>ntiādi. ‘‘Itī’’ti vatvā <hi rend="bold">‘‘lokiyānaṃ…pe… aggattā’’</hi>ti tassattho vutto, ‘‘aggattā’’ti ettha vā nidassanametaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Pakappetī</hi>ti saṃvidahati. Jhānaṃ samāpajjanto hi jhānasukhaṃ attani saṃvidahati nāma. <hi rend="bold">Abhisaṅkharotī</hi>ti āyūhati sampiṇḍeti. Sampiṇḍanattho hi samudāyattho. Yasmā pana nikantivasena cetanākiccassa matthakappatti, tasmā phalūpacārena kāraṇaṃ dassento <hi rend="bold">‘‘nikantiṃ…pe… nāmā’’</hi>ti vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Imā ākiñcaññāyatanasaññā</hi>ti idāni labbhamānā ākiñcaññāyatanasaññā <pb ed="V" n="2.0335" />. Taṃsamatikkameneva uparijhānatthāya cetanābhisaṅkharaṇasambhavato <hi rend="bold">nirujjheyyuṃ. Aññā</hi>ti ākiñcaññāyatanasaññāhi aññā. <hi rend="bold">Oḷārikā</hi>ti tato thūlatarā. Kā pana tāti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘bhavaṅgasaññā’’</hi>ti. Ākiñcaññāyatanato vuṭṭhāya eva hi uparijhānatthāya cetanābhisaṅkharaṇāni bhaveyyuṃ, evañca ākiñcaññāyatanasaññā nirujjheyyuṃ, vuṭṭhānañca bhavaṅgavasena hoti, tato parampi yāva uparijhānasamāpajjanaṃ, tāva antarantarā bhavaṅgasaññā uppajjeyyuṃ, tā ca ākiñcaññāyatanasaññāhi oḷārikāti adhippāyo.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Cetentovā</hi>ti <pb ed="M" n="2.0381" /> nevasaññānāsaññāyatanajjhānaṃ ekaṃ dve cittavārepi samāpajjanavasena pakappento eva. <hi rend="bold">Na cetetī</hi>ti tathā heṭṭhimajhānesu viya vā pubbābhogābhāvato na pakappeti nāma. Pubbābhogavasena hi jhānaṃ pakappento idha ‘‘cetetī’’ti vutto. <hi rend="bold">Abhisaṅkharontovā</hi>ti tattha appahīnanikantikatāvasena āyūhanto eva. <hi rend="bold">Nābhisaṅkharotī</hi>ti tathā heṭṭhimajhānesu viya vā pubbābhogābhāvato nāyūhati nāma. ‘‘Ahametaṃ jhānaṃ nibbattemi upasampādemi samāpajjāmī’’ti hi evaṃ abhisaṅkharaṇaṃ tattha sālayasseva hoti, na anālayassa, tasmā ekadvicittakkhaṇikampi jhānaṃ pavattento tattha appahīnanikantikatāya ‘‘abhisaṅkharonto evā’’ti vutto. Yasmā panassa tathā heṭṭhimajhānesu viya vā tattha pubbābhogo natthi, tasmā ‘‘na abhisaṅkharotī’’ti vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Imassa bhikkhuno’’</hi>tiādi vuttassevatthassa vivaraṇaṃ. Tattha yasmā imassa…pe… atthi, tasmā ‘‘na ceteti, nābhisaṅkharotī’’ti ca vuttanti adhippāyo. <hi rend="bold">Ābhogasamannāhāro</hi>ti ābhogasaṅkhāto, ābhogavasena vā cittassa ārammaṇābhimukhaṃ, ārammaṇassa vā cittābhimukhaṃ anvāhāro. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Svāyamattho’’</hi>tiādinā tadevatthaṃ upamāya paṭipādeti. <hi rend="bold">Puttagharācikkhaṇenā</hi>ti puttagharassa ārocananayena.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Gantvā ādāya āgatanti sambandho. <hi rend="bold">Pacchābhāge</hi>ti āsanasālāya pacchimadisāyaṃ ṭhitassa pitugharassa pacchābhāge. <hi rend="bold">Tato</hi>ti puttagharato. <hi rend="bold">Laddhagharamevā</hi>ti yatonena bhikkhā laddhā, tameva gharaṃ puttagehameva. <hi rend="bold">Āsanasālā viya ākiñcaññāyatanasamāpatti</hi> tato pitugharaputtagharaṭṭhāniyānaṃ nevasaññānāsaññāyatananirodhasamāpattīnaṃ upagantabbato. <hi rend="bold">Pitugehaṃ viya nevasaññānāsaññāyatanasamāpatti</hi> amanasikātabbato, majjhe ṭhitattā ca. <hi rend="bold">Puttagehaṃ viya nirodhasamāpatti</hi> manasikātabbato, pariyante ṭhitattā ca. <hi rend="bold">Pitugharaṃ amanasikaritvā</hi>ti pavisitvā samatikkantampi pitugharaṃ amanasikaritvā. Puttagharasseva ācikkhaṇaṃ viya ekaṃ dve cittavāre samāpajjitabbampi nevasaññānāsaññāyatanaṃ amanasikaritvā parato nirodhasamāpattatthāya eva manasikāro daṭṭhabbo. Evaṃ amanasikārasāmaññena, manasikārasāmaññena ca upamopameyyatā vuttā <pb ed="V" n="2.0336" /> ācikkhaṇenapi manasikārasseva jotanato. Na hi manasikārena vinā ācikkhaṇaṃ sambhavati.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Tā</hi><pb ed="M" n="2.0382" /><hi rend="bold">jhānasaññā</hi>ti ekaṃ dve cittavāre pavattā nevasaññānāsaññāyatanajhānasaññā. Nirodhasamāpattiyañhi yathārahaṃ catutthāruppakusalakiriyajavanaṃ dvikkhattumeva javati, na taduttari. <hi rend="bold">Nirujjhantī</hi>ti sarasavaseneva nirujjhanti, pubbābhisaṅkhārabalena pana upari anuppādo. Yathā ca jhānasaññānaṃ, evaṃ itarasaññānampīti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘aññā cā’’</hi>tiādi. <hi rend="bold">Nuppajjanti</hi> yathāparicchinnakālanti adhippāyo. <hi rend="bold">So evaṃ paṭipanno bhikkhū</hi>ti yathāvutte saññagge ṭhitabhāvena paṭipanno bhikkhu, so ca kho anāgāmī vā arahā vā dvīhi phalehi samannāgamo, tiṇṇaṃ saṅkhārānaṃ paṭippassaddhi, soḷasavidhā ñāṇacariyā, navavidhā samādhicariyāti imesaṃ vasena nirodhapaṭipādanapaṭipattiṃ paṭipannoti attho. Anupubbanirodhavasena cittacetasikānaṃ appavattiyeva saññāvedanāsīsena <hi rend="bold">‘‘saññāvedayitanirodha’’</hi>nti vuttā. <hi rend="bold">Phusatī</hi>ti ettha <hi rend="bold">phusanaṃ</hi> nāma vindanaṃ paṭiladdhīti dasseti <hi rend="bold">‘‘vindati paṭilabhatī’’</hi>ti iminā. Atthato pana vuttanayena yathāparicchinnakālaṃ cittacetasikānaṃ sabbaso appavattiyeva.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Niratthakatāya <hi rend="bold">upasaggamattaṃ,</hi> tasmā saññā icceva attho. Nirodhapadena anantarikaṃ katvā samāpattipade vattabbe tesaṃ dvinnamantare sampajānapadaṃ ṭhapitanti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘nirodhapadena antarikaṃ katvā vutta’’</hi>nti. Tena vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘anu…pe… attho’’</hi>ti, tena ayuttasamāsoyaṃ yathārutapāṭhoti dasseti. <hi rend="bold">Tatrāpī</hi>ti tasmiṃ yathāpadamanupubbiṭhapanepi ayaṃ visesatthoti yojanā. <hi rend="bold">Sampajānantassā</hi>ti taṃ taṃ samāpattiṃ samāpajjitvā vuṭṭhāya tattha tattha saṅkhārānaṃ sammasanavasena pajānantassa puggalassa. <hi rend="bold">Ante</hi>ti yathāvuttāya nirodhapaṭipādanapaṭipattiyā pariyosāne. Dutiyavikappe <hi rend="bold">sampajānantassā</hi>ti sampajānakārino, iminā nirodhasamāpattisamāpajjanakassa bhikkhuno ādito paṭṭhāya sabbapāṭihārikapaññāya saddhiṃ atthasādhikā paññā kiccato dassitā hoti. Tenāha <hi rend="bold">‘‘paṇḍitassa bhikkhuno’’</hi>ti. Vacanasesāpekkhā’ napekkhatā dvinnaṃ vikappānaṃ viseso.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Saṃvaṇṇanokāsānuppattito <hi rend="bold">nirodhasamāpattikathā kathetabbā. Sabbākārenā</hi>ti nirodhasamāpattiyā sarūpaviseso, samāpajjanako, samāpajjanaṭṭhānaṃ, samāpajjanakāraṇaṃ, samāpajjanākāroti evamādinā sabbappakārena <pb ed="M" n="2.0383" />. <hi rend="bold">Tatthā</hi>ti visuddhimagge (visuddhi. 1.307) <hi rend="bold">kathitatovā</hi>ti <pb ed="V" n="2.0337" /> kathitaṭṭhānato eva, tevīsatimaparicchedatoti attho, na idha taṃ vadāma punaruttibhāvato, ganthagarukabhāvato cāti adhippāyo.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Pāḷiyaṃ <hi rend="bold">evaṃ kho aha</hi>nti ettha ākārattho <hi rend="bold">evaṃ</hi>-saddo uggahitākāradassananti katvā. <hi rend="bold">Evaṃ poṭṭhapādā</hi>ti ettha pana sampaṭicchanattho tatheva anujānananti katvā. Tenāha <hi rend="bold">‘‘suuggatitaṃ tayā’ti anujānanto’’</hi>ti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="415"><hi rend="paranum">415</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi> Saññā aggā etthāti <hi rend="bold">saññaggaṃ,</hi> ākiñcaññāyatanaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Avasesasamāpattīsupi saññaggaṃ atthīti</hi> ettha pana saññaggabhāvo ‘‘saññagga’’nti vutto, saññāyeva agganti tulyādhikaraṇasamāso vā. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Puthū’’</hi>ti ayaṃ liṅgavipallāso, nikāralopo vāti vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘bahūnī’’</hi>ti. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Yathā’’</hi>ti iminā karaṇappakārasaṅkhāto pakāraviseso gahito, na pakārasāmaññanti dasseti <hi rend="bold">‘‘pathavīkasiṇādīsū’’</hi>tiādinā. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Idaṃ vuttaṃ hotī’’</hi>tiādi tabbivaraṇaṃ. Jhānānaṃ tāva yutto karaṇabhāvo saññānirodhaphusanassa sādhakatamabhāvato, kasiṇānaṃ pana kathanti? Tesampi so yutto eva. Yadaggena hi jhānānaṃ nirodhaphusanassa sādhakatamabhāvo, tadaggena kasiṇānampi tadavinābhāvato. Anekakaraṇāpi ca kiriyā hotiyeva yathā ‘‘aññena maggena yānena dīpikāya gacchatī’’ti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Ekavāra</hi>nti sakiṃ. <hi rend="bold">Purimasaññānirodha</hi>nti kāmasaññānirodhaṃ, na pana nirodhasamāpattisaññitaṃ saññānirodhaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Ekaṃ saññagga</hi>nti ekaṃ saññābhūtaṃ aggaṃ, eko saññaggabhāvo vā heṭṭhimāya saññāya ukkaṭṭhabhāvato. Saññā ca sā aggañcāti hi <hi rend="bold">saññaggaṃ,</hi> na saññāsu agganti. Yathā pana saññā aggo etthāti <hi rend="bold">saññaggaṃ,</hi> ākiñcaññāyatanaṃ, evaṃ sesajhānampi. Yena ca nimittena jhānaṃ ‘‘saññagga’’nti vuttaṃ, tadeva saññāsaṅkhātaṃ nimittaṃ bhāvalopena, bhāvappadhānena vā idhādhippetaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Dve vāre</hi>ti dvikkhattuṃ. <hi rend="bold">Satasahassaṃ saññaggānī</hi>ti migapadavaḷañjananiddeso. <hi rend="bold">Sesakasiṇesū</hi>ti kasiṇānameva gahaṇaṃ nirodhakathāya adhikatattā, tato eva cettha jhānaggahaṇenapi kasiṇajjhānāni eva gahitānīti veditabbaṃ. Yathā ‘‘pathavīkasiṇena karaṇabhūtenā’’ti tadārammaṇikaṃ jhānaṃ anāmasitvā vuttaṃ, evaṃ <pb ed="M" n="2.0384" /><hi rend="bold">‘‘paṭhamajjhānena karaṇabhūtenā’’</hi>ti tadārammaṇaṃ anāmasitvā vadati. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Itī’’</hi>tiādinā tadevatthaṃ saṅgahetvā nigamanaṃ karoti. <hi rend="bold">Sabbampī</hi>ti ekavāraṃ samāpannajjhānasaññampi. <hi rend="bold">Saṅgahetvā</hi>ti sañjānanalakkhaṇena taṃsabhāvānativattanato saṅgahaṃ katvā, samāpajjanavasena, sañjānanalakkhaṇena ca ekatāti vuttaṃ hoti. <hi rend="bold">Aparāpara</hi>nti punappunaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Bahūni</hi> saññaggāni honti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="416"><hi rend="paranum">416</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi> Paṭhamanaye <pb ed="V" n="2.0338" /> jhānapadaṭṭhānaṃ vipassanaṃ vaḍḍhentassa puggalassa vasena saññāñāṇāni dassitāni. Dutiyanaye pana yasmā vipassanaṃ ussukkāpetvā maggena ghaṭentassa maggañāṇaṃ uppajjati, tasmā vipassanāmaggavasena saññāñāṇāni dassitāni. Tatiyanaye ca yasmā paṭhamanayo oḷāriko, dutiyanayopi missakoti tadubhayaṃ asambhāvetvā accantasukhumagambhīraṃ nibbattitalokuttarameva dassetuṃ maggaphalavasena saññāñāṇāni dassitāni. Tayopete nayā maggasodhanavasena dassitā.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">‘‘Ayaṃ panettha sāro’’ti vibhāvetuṃ tipiṭakamahāsivattheravādo ābhato. Tathā hi ‘‘arahattaphalasaññāya uppādā’’tiādinā (dī. ni. aṭṭha. 1.416) theravādānukūlameva upari attho saṃvaṇṇitoti. <hi rend="bold">Ime bhikkhū</hi>ti purimavādino bhikkhū. Tadā <hi rend="bold">dīghanikāyatantiṃ</hi> parivattante imaṃ ṭhānaṃ patvā yathāvuttapaṭipāṭiyā tayo naye kathente bhikkhū sandhāya evaṃ thero vadati. Nirodhaṃ pucchitvā tasmiṃ kathite tadanantaraṃ saññāñāṇuppattiṃ pucchanto atthato nirodhā vuṭṭhānaṃ pucchati nāma. Nirodhato ca vuṭṭhānaṃ arahattaphaluppattiyā vā siyā, anāgāmiphaluppattiyā vā, tattha saññā padhānā, tadanantarañca paccavekkhaṇañāṇanti tadubhayaṃ niddhārento thero <hi rend="bold">‘‘poṭṭhapādo heṭṭhā’’</hi>tiādimāha. Tattha <hi rend="bold">bhagavā</hi>ti ālapanavacanaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Yathā maggavīthiyaṃ maggaphalañāṇesu uppannesu niyamato maggaphalapaccavekkhaṇañāṇāni honti, evaṃ phalasamāpattivīthiyaṃ phalapaccavekkhaṇañāṇanti vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘pacchā paccavekkhaṇañāṇa’’</hi>nti. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Idaṃ arahattaphala’’</hi>nti paccavekkhaṇañāṇassa uppattiākāradassanaṃ. Ayameva paccayo <hi rend="bold">idappaccayo</hi> ma-kārassa da-kāraṃ katvā. Da-kārenapi pakatipadamicchanti keci saddavidū. So pana theravāde <pb ed="M" n="2.0385" /> na phalasamādhisaññā evāti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘phalasamādhisaññāpaccayā’’</hi>ti, arahattaphalasamādhisahagatasaññāpaccayāti attho. <hi rend="bold">Kirā</hi>ti anussaraṇatthe nipāto. Yathādhigatadhammānussaraṇapakkhiyā hi paccavekkhaṇā. Samādhisīsena cettha sabbaṃ arahattaphalaṃ gahitaṃ sahacaraṇañāyena, tasmiṃ asati paccavekkhaṇāya asambhavoti pāḷiyaṃ ‘‘idappaccayā’’ti vuttaṃ. Evamidha dīghabhāṇakānaṃ matena phalapaccavekkhaṇāya ekantikatā dassitā. <hi rend="bold">Cūḷadukkhakkhandhasuttaṭṭhakathāyaṃ</hi> pana evaṃ vuttaṃ ‘‘sā pana na sabbesaṃ paripuṇṇā hoti. Eko hi pahīnakilesameva paccavekkhati, eko avasiṭṭhakilesameva, eko maggameva, eko phalameva, eko nibbānameva. Imāsu pana pañcasu paccavekkhaṇāsu ekaṃ vā dve vā no laddhuṃ na vaṭṭantī’’ti (ma. ni. aṭṭha. 1.175), tadetaṃ <hi rend="bold">majjhimabhāṇakānaṃ</hi> matena vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Ābhidhammikā</hi> pana vadanti –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Maggaṃ <pb ed="V" n="2.0339" /> phalañca nibbānaṃ, paccavekkhati paṇḍito;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Hīne kilese sese ca, paccavekkhati vā na vā’’ti. (abhidhammatthasaṅgahaṭṭhakathāyaṃ kammaṭṭhānasaṅgahavibhāge visuddhibhede);</p>

<p rend="subhead">Saññāattakathāvaṇṇanā</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="417"><hi rend="paranum">417</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi><hi rend="bold">‘‘Gāmasūkaro’’</hi>ti iminā vanasūkaramapaneti. Evañhi upamāvacanaṃ sūpapannaṃ hotīti. Desanāya saṇhabhāvena sārambhamakkhaissādimalavisodhanato sutamayañāṇaṃ nhāpitaṃ viya, sukhumabhāvena anuvilittaṃ viya, tilakkhaṇabbhāhatatāya kuṇḍalādyālaṅkāravibhūsitaṃ viya ca hoti. Tadanupavisato ñāṇassa, tathābhāvā taṃsamaṅgino ca puggalassa tathābhāvāpatti, nirodhakathāya nivedanañcassa sirisayane pavesanasadisanti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘saṇhasukhuma…pe… ārāpitopī’’</hi>ti. <hi rend="bold">Tatthā</hi>ti tissaṃ nirodhakathāyaṃ. Mandabuddhitāya <hi rend="bold">sukhaṃ na vindanto</hi> alabhanto, ajānanto vā. Malavidūsitatāya <hi rend="bold">gūthaṭṭhānasadisaṃ. Attano laddhi</hi>nti attadiṭṭhiṃ. <hi rend="bold">Anumatiṃ gahetvā</hi>ti anuññaṃ gahetvā ‘‘ediso me attā’’ti anujānāpetvā, attano laddhiyaṃ patiṭṭhāpetvāti vuttaṃ hoti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Pāḷiyaṃ <pb ed="M" n="2.0386" /><hi rend="bold">kaṃ panā</hi>ti oḷāriko, manomayo, arūpīti tiṇṇaṃ attavādānaṃ vasena tividhesu attānesu kataraṃ attānaṃ paccesīti attho. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Desanāya sukusalo’’</hi>ti iminā ‘‘avassaṃ me bhagavā laddhiṃ viddhaṃsessatī’’ti tassa manasikāraṃ dasseti. <hi rend="bold">Pariharanto</hi>ti viddhaṃsanato apanento, arūpī attāti attano laddhiṃ nigūhantoti adhippāyo. Pāḷiyaṃ ‘‘oḷārikaṃ kho’’tiādimhi paribbājakavacane ayamadhippāyo – yasmā catusantatirūpappabandhaṃ ekattavasena gahetvā rūpībhāvato ‘‘oḷāriko attā’’ti pacceti attavādī, annapānopaṭṭhānatañcassa parikappetvā ‘‘sassato’’ti maññati, rūpībhāvato eva ca saññāya aññattaṃ ñāyāgatameva, yaṃ vedavādino ‘‘annamayo, pānamayo’’ti ca dvidhā voharanti, tasmā paribbājako taṃ attavādimataṃ attānaṃ sandhāya ‘‘oḷārikaṃ kho’’tiādimāhāti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">‘‘Oḷāriko ca hi te poṭṭhapāda attā abhavissā’’tiādimhi bhagavato vacane cāyamadhippāyo – yadi attā rūpī bhaveyya, evaṃ sati rūpaṃ attā siyā, na ca saññī saññāya arūpabhāvato, rūpadhammānañca asañjānanasabhāvattā. Rūpī ca samāno yadi tava matena nicco, saññā ca aparāparaṃ pavattanato tattha tattha bhijjatīti bhedasabbhāvato aniccā <pb ed="V" n="2.0340" />, evampi ‘‘aññā saññā, añño attā’’ti saññāya abhāvato acetanova attā hoti, tasmā esa attā na kammassa kārako, na ca phalassa upabhuñjanakoti āpannamevāti imaṃ dosaṃ dassento bhagavā ‘‘oḷāriko cā’’tiādimāhāti. <hi rend="bold">Tatthā</hi>ti ‘‘rūpī attā’’ti vāde. <hi rend="bold">Paccāgacchato</hi>ti sesakiriyāpekkhāya kammattheyeva upayogavacanaṃ, <hi rend="bold">paccāgacchato</hi>ti ca paccāgacchantassa, jānantassa, paṭicca vādena pavattassāti vā attho. ‘‘Aññā ca saññā uppajjati, aññā ca saññā nirujjhantī’’ti kasmā vuttaṃ, nanu uppādapubbako nirodho, na ca uppannaṃ anirujjhanakaṃ nāma atthīti codanaṃ sodhetuṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘catunnaṃ khandhāna’’</hi>ntiādi vuttaṃ. Satipi nesaṃ ekālambaṇavatthukabhāve uppādanirodhādhikārattā ekuppādanirodhabhāvova vutto. <hi rend="bold">Aparāpara</hi>nti poṅkhānupoṅkha.</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="418-420"><hi rend="paranum">418-420</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi> Pāḷiyaṃ <hi rend="bold">manomaya</hi>nti jhānamanaso vasena manomayaṃ. Yo hi bāhirapaccayanirapekkho, so manasāva nibbattoti manomayo. Rūpaloke nibbattasarīraṃ sandhāya vadati. Yaṃ <hi rend="bold">vedavādino</hi> ‘‘ānandamayo <pb ed="M" n="2.0387" />, viññāṇamayo’’ti ca dvidhā voharanti. <hi rend="bold">Tatrāpī</hi>ti ‘‘manomayo attā’’ti vādepi. <hi rend="bold">Dose dinne</hi>ti ‘‘aññāva saññā bhavissatī’’tiādinā dose dinne attano laddhiṃyeva vadanto ‘‘arūpiṃ kho’’tiādimāhāti sambandho. Idhāpi purimavāde vuttanayena ‘‘yadi attā manomayo sabbaṅgapaccaṅgī ahīnindriyo bhaveyya, evaṃ sati rūpaṃ attā siyā, na ca saññī saññāya arūpabhāvato’’tiādi sabbaṃ dosadassanaṃ veditabbaṃ. Tamatthañhi dassento bhagavā ‘‘manomayo ca hi te poṭṭhapādā’’tiādimavoca. Kasmā panāyaṃ paribbājako paṭhamaṃ oḷārikaṃ attānaṃ paṭijānitvā taṃ laddhiṃ vissajjetvā puna manomayaṃ attānaṃ paṭijānāti? Tampi vissajjitvā puna arūpiṃ attānaṃ paṭijānātīti? Kāmañcettha kāraṇaṃ ‘‘tato so arūpī attāti evaṃladdhiko samānopi…pe… ādimāhā’’ti heṭṭhā vuttameva, tathāpi ime titthiyā nāma anavaṭṭhitacittā thusarāsimhi nikhātakhāṇuko viya cañcalāti kāraṇantarampi dassetuṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘yathā nāmā’’</hi>tiādi vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Saññā nappatiṭṭhātī</hi>ti ārammaṇe sañjānanavasena saññā na patiṭṭhāti, ārammaṇe saññaṃ na karotīti vuttaṃ hoti. <hi rend="bold">Saññāpatiṭṭhānakāle</hi>ti etthāpi ayaṃ nayo.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Tatrāpī</hi>ti ‘‘arūpī attā’’ti vādepi. <hi rend="bold">Saññāyā</hi>ti pakatisaññāya, evaṃ <hi rend="bold">bhadantadhammapālattherena</hi> (dī. ni. ṭī. 1.418-420) vuttaṃ. Aññasmiṃ titthāyatane uppādanirodhanti hi sambandho. Tena <hi rend="bold">vedikānaṃ</hi> matena nānakkhaṇe uppannāya nānārammaṇāya saññāya uppādanirodhamicchatīti dasseti. Keci pana ‘‘ācariyasaññāyā’’ti paṭhanti, tadayuttaṃ <pb ed="V" n="2.0341" /> atthassa viruddhattā, therena ca anuddhaṭattā. Aparāparaṃ pavattāya saññāya uppādavayadassanato <hi rend="bold">uppādanirodhaṃ icchati.</hi> Tathāpi ‘‘saññā saññā’’ti pavattasamaññaṃ ‘‘attā’’ti gahetvā tassa avicchedaṃ parikappento sassataṃ maññati. Tenāha <hi rend="bold">‘‘attānaṃ pana sassataṃ maññatī’’</hi>ti. <hi rend="bold">Tasmā</hi>ti aparāparaṃ pavattasaññāya nāmamattena sassataṃ maññanato. Saññāya uppādanirodhamatte aṭṭhatvā taduttari sassataggāhassa gahaṇato dosaṃ dassetīti adhippāyo. <hi rend="bold">Tathevā</hi>ti yathā ‘‘rūpī attā, manomayo attā’’ti ca vādadvaye attano asaññatā, evañcassa ‘‘acetanatā’’tiādidosappasaṅgo dunnivāro <pb ed="M" n="2.0388" />, tatheva imasmiṃ vādepīti attho. <hi rend="bold">Micchādassanenā</hi>ti attadiṭṭhisaṅkhātena micchābhinivesena. <hi rend="bold">Abhibhūtattā</hi>ti anādikālabhāvitabhāvena ajjhotthaṭattā, nivāritañāṇacārattāti vuttaṃ hoti. Yena santatighanena, samūhaghanena ca vañcito bālo pabandhavasena pavattamānaṃ dhammasamūhaṃ micchāgāhavasena ‘‘attā’’ti ca ‘‘nicco’’ti ca abhinivissa voharati, taṃ ekattasaññitaṃ santatighanaṃ, samūhaghanañca vinibhujja yāthāvato jānanaṃ ghanavinibbhogo, so ca sabbena sabbaṃ titthiyānaṃ natthi. Tasmā ayampi paribbājako tādisassa ñāṇaparipākassa abhāvato vuccamānampi nānattaṃ nāññāsīti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘taṃ nānattaṃ ajānanto’’</hi>ti. Saññā nāmāyaṃ nānārammaṇā nānākkhaṇe uppajjati, veti cāti vedikānaṃ mataṃ. <hi rend="bold">Saññāya uppādanirodhaṃ passantopi saññāmayaṃ</hi> saññābhūtaṃ <hi rend="bold">attānaṃ</hi> parikappetvā yathāvuttaghanavinibbhogābhāvato <hi rend="bold">niccameva</hi> katvā diṭṭhimaññanāya <hi rend="bold">maññati.</hi> Tathābhūtassa ca tassa saṇhasukhumaparamagambhīradhammatā na ñāyatevāti idaṃ kāraṇaṃ passantena bhagavatā <hi rend="bold">‘‘dujjānaṃ kho’’</hi>tiādi vuttanti dassento <hi rend="bold">‘‘athassa bhagavā’’</hi>tiādimāha.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Diṭṭhi</hi>ādīsu ‘‘evameta’’nti dassanaṃ abhinivisanaṃ <hi rend="bold">diṭṭhi</hi>. Tassā eva pubbabhāgabhūtaṃ ‘‘evameta’’nti nijjhānavasena khamanaṃ <hi rend="bold">khanti.</hi> Tathā rocanaṃ <hi rend="bold">ruci.</hi><hi rend="bold">‘‘Aññathāyevā’’</hi>tiādi tesaṃ diṭṭhiādīnaṃ vibhajja dassanaṃ. Tattha <hi rend="bold">aññathāyevā</hi>ti yathā ariyavinaye antadvayaṃ anupagamma majjhimapaṭipadāvasena dassanaṃ hoti, tato aññathāyeva. <hi rend="bold">Aññadevā</hi>ti yaṃ paramatthato vijjati khandhāyatanādi, tassa cāpi aniccatādi, tato aññadeva paramatthato avijjamānaṃ attasassatādikaṃ tayā khamate ceva ruccate cāti attho. Ābhuso yuñjanaṃ <hi rend="bold">āyogo. </hi> Tena vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘yuttapayuttatā’’</hi>ti. <hi rend="bold">Paṭipattiyā</hi>ti paramattacintanādiparibbājakapaṭipattiyā. Ācariyassa bhāvo <hi rend="bold">ācariyakaṃ,</hi> yathā tathā ovādānusāsanaṃ, tadassatthīti <hi rend="bold">ācariyako</hi> yathā ‘‘saddho’’ti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘aññatthā’’</hi>tiādi. Aññasmiṃ titthāyatane tava ācariyabhāvo atthīti yojanā. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Tenā’’</hi>tiādi saha yojanāya yathāvākyaṃ dassanaṃ. ‘‘Ayaṃ paramattho, ayaṃ sammutī’’ti imassa <pb ed="V" n="2.0342" /> vibhāgassa dubbibhāgattā <hi rend="bold">dujjānaṃ etaṃ</hi> nānattaṃ. ‘‘Yajjetaṃ dujjānaṃ tāva tiṭṭhatu, aññaṃ panatthaṃ bhagavantaṃ pucchāmī’’ti cintetvā tathā paṭipannataṃ dassetuṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘atha paribbājako’’</hi>tiādi <pb ed="M" n="2.0389" /> vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Añño vā saññāto</hi>ti saññāsabhāvato aññasabhāvo vā attā hotūti attho. Adhunā pana <hi rend="bold">‘‘aññā vā saññā’’</hi>ti pāṭho dissati. <hi rend="bold">Assā</hi>ti attano.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Lokīyati dissati, patiṭṭhahati vā ettha puññapāpaṃ, tabbipāko cāti <hi rend="bold">loko,</hi> attā. So hissa kārako, vedako cāti icchito. <hi rend="bold">Diṭṭhigata</hi>nti ‘‘sassato attā ca loko cā’’tiādi (dī. ni. 1.31; udā. 55) nayapavattaṃ diṭṭhigataṃ. Na hesa diṭṭhābhiniveso diṭṭhadhammikādiatthanissito tadasaṃvattanato. Yo hi taṃ saṃvattanako, so ‘‘taṃ nissito’’ti vattabbataṃ labheyya yathā taṃ puññañāṇasambhāro. Eteneva nayena na dhammanissitatāpi saṃvaṇṇetabbā. Brahmacariyassa ādi <hi rend="bold">ādibrahmacariyaṃ,</hi> tadeva <hi rend="bold">ādibrahmacariyakaṃ</hi> yathā ‘‘vinayo eva venayiko’’ti (pārā. aṭṭha. 8). Tenāha <hi rend="bold">‘‘sikkhattayasaṅkhātassā’’</hi>tiādi. Sabbampi vākyaṃ antogadhāvadhāraṇaṃ tassa avadhāraṇaphalattāti vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘ādimatta’’</hi>nti. Tadidha adhisīlasikkhāva. Sā hi sikkhattayasaṅgahite sāsanabrahmacariye ādibhūtā, na aññattha viya ājīvaṭṭhamakādi ādibrahmacariyakanti dasseti <hi rend="bold">‘‘adhisīlasikkhāmatta’’</hi>nti iminā. <hi rend="bold">Nibbindanatthāyā</hi>ti ukkaṇṭhitabhāvāya. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Abhijānanāyā</hi>ti ñātapariññāvasena abhijānanatthāya. <hi rend="bold">Sambujjhanatthāyā</hi>ti tīraṇapahānapariññāvasena sambodhanatthāyā’’ti vadanti. Apica <hi rend="bold">abhijānanāyā</hi>ti abhiññāpaññāvasena jānanāya. Taṃ pana vaṭṭassa paccakkhakaraṇameva hotīti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘paccakkhakiriyāyā’’</hi>ti. <hi rend="bold">Sambujjhanatthāyā</hi>ti pariññābhisamayavasena paṭivedhatthāya. Diṭṭhābhinivesassa saṃsāravaṭṭe nibbidāvirāganirodhupasamāsaṃvattanaṃ vaṭṭantogadhattā, tassa vaṭṭasambandhanato ca. Tathā abhiññāsambodhanibbānāsaṃvattanañca daṭṭhabbaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Kāmaṃ taṇhāpi dukkhasabhāvā eva, tassā pana samudayabhāvena visuṃ gahitattā <hi rend="bold">‘‘taṇhaṃ ṭhapetvā’’</hi>ti vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Pabhāvanato</hi>ti uppādanato. Dukkhaṃ pabhāventīpi taṇhā avijjādipaccayantarasahitā eva pabhāveti, na kevalāti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘sappaccayā’’</hi>ti. <hi rend="bold">Appavattī</hi>ti appavattinimittaṃ. Na pavattanti ettha dukkhasamudayā, etasmiṃ vā adhigateti hi <hi rend="bold">appavatti.</hi> Dukkhanirodhaṃ nibbānaṃ gacchati, tadatthañca sā paṭipajjitabbāti <hi rend="bold">dukkhanirodhagāminipaṭipadā. Maggapātubhāvo</hi>ti <pb ed="M" n="2.0390" /> maggasamuppādo. <hi rend="bold">Phalasacchikiriyā</hi>ti phalassādhigamavasena paccakkhakaraṇaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Taṃ ākāra</hi>nti taṃ tuṇhībhāvasaṅkhātaṃ gamanaliṅga <hi rend="bold">ārocento viya,</hi> na pana abhimukhaṃ āroceti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="421"><hi rend="paranum">421</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi> Samantato <pb ed="V" n="2.0343" /> niggaṇhanavasena todanaṃ vijjhanaṃ <hi rend="bold">sannitodakaṃ.</hi> Manogaṇādīnaṃ visesanassa napuṃsakaliṅgena niddiṭṭhattā <hi rend="bold">‘‘vācāya sannitodakenā’’</hi>ti vuttaṃ. Tenāha <hi rend="bold">‘‘vacanapatodakenā’’</hi>ti. Atha vā <hi rend="bold">‘‘vācāyā’’</hi>ti idaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘sannitodakenā’’</hi>ti ettha karaṇavacanaṃ daṭṭhabbaṃ. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Vacanapatodakenā’’</hi>ti hi vacanena patodakenāti attho, ‘‘vācāyā’’ti vā sambandhe sāmivacanaṃ. Vācāya sannitodanakiriyāya sajjhabbharitamakaṃsūti yojetabbaṃ. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Sajjhabbharita’’</hi>nti etassa ‘‘saṃ adhi abhi aribha’’nti padacchedo, samantato bhusaṃ aritanti attho, satamattehi tuttakehi viya vividhehi paribbājakavācātodanehi tudiṃ sūti vuttaṃ hoti. Tathā hi vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘upari vijjhiṃsū’’</hi>ti. <hi rend="bold">Sabhāvato vijjamāna</hi>nti paramatthasabhāvato upalabbhamānaṃ, na pakatiādi viya anupalabbhamānaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Taccha</hi>nti saccaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Tatha</hi>nti aviparītaṃ. Atthato vevacanameva taṃ padattayaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Navalokuttaradhammesū</hi>ti visaye bhummaṃ, te dhamme visayaṃ katvā. <hi rend="bold">Ṭhitasabhāva</hi>nti avaṭṭhitasabhāvaṃ, taduppādakanti attho. <hi rend="bold">Lokuttaradhammaniyāmaniyata</hi>nti lokuttaradhammasampāpananiyāmena niyataṃ. Idāni pana <hi rend="bold">‘‘lokuttaradhammaniyāmata’’</hi>nti pāṭho, so na porāṇo ācariyena anuddhaṭattā. Kasmā panesā paṭipadā dhammaṭṭhitatā dhammaniyāmatāti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘buddhānañhī’’</hi>tiādi. <hi rend="bold">Sā</hi>ti paṭipadā. <hi rend="bold">Edisā</hi>ti ‘‘dhammaṭṭhitata’’ntiādinā vuttappakārā.</p>

<p rend="subhead">Cittahatthisāriputtapoṭṭhapādavatthuvaṇṇanā</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="422"><hi rend="paranum">422</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi> Hatthiṃ sāreti dametīti <hi rend="bold">hatthisārī,</hi> hatthācariyo. <hi rend="bold">Sukhumesu atthantaresū</hi>ti khandhāyatanādīsu sukhumañāṇagocaresu dhammesu. Abhidhammiko kiresa. <hi rend="bold">Kusalo</hi>ti pubbepi buddhasāsane kataparicayatāya cheko. <hi rend="bold">Tādise citte</hi>ti gihibhāvacitte. Itaro pana taṃ sutvāva na vibbhami, <hi rend="bold">pabbajjāyameva abhiramī</hi>ti adhippāyo. <hi rend="bold">Gihibhāve ānisaṃsakathāya kathitattā</hi>ti ettha sīlavantassa bhikkhuno tathā kathanena vibbhamane niyojitattā idāni sayampi sīlavā eva hutvā cha vāre <pb ed="M" n="2.0391" /> vibbhamīti adhippāyo gahetabbo. Kammasarikkhakena hi kammaphalena bhavitabbaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Kathentāna</hi>nti anādare sāmivacanaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Mahāsāvakassa kathite</hi>ti mahāsāvakabhūtena mahākoṭṭhikattherena apasādanavasena kathite, kathananimittaṃ patiṭṭhaṃ laddhuṃ asakkontoti attho. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Vibbhamitvā gihī jāto’’</hi>ti idaṃ sattamavāramiva vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Dhammapadaṭṭhakathāyaṃ</hi> (dha. pa. aṭṭha. 1.3 cittahatthattheravatthu) pana <hi rend="bold">kudālapaṇḍitajātake</hi> (jā. aṭṭha. 1.1.7 kuddālajātakavaṇṇanā) ca chakkhattumeva vibbhamanavāro vutto. <hi rend="bold">Gihisahāyako</hi>ti gihikāle sahāyako. <hi rend="bold">Apasakkantopi nāmā</hi>ti api nāma apasakkanto, gārayhavacanametaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Pabbajituṃ vaṭṭatī</hi>ti pabbajjā vaṭṭati.</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="423"><hi rend="paranum">423</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi><hi rend="bold">Paññācakkhuno</hi><pb ed="V" n="2.0344" /><hi rend="bold">natthitāyā</hi>ti suvuttaduruttasamavisamadassanasamatthassa paññācakkhuno abhāvena. Yādisena cakkhunā so ‘‘cakkhumā’’ti vutto, taṃ dassetuṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘subhāsitā’’</hi>tiādi vuttaṃ. Ayaṃ aṭṭhakathāto aparo nayo – <hi rend="bold">ekaṃsikā</hi>ti ekantikā, nibbānavahabhāvena nicchitāti vuttaṃ hoti. <hi rend="bold">Paññattā</hi>ti vavatthapitā. <hi rend="bold">Na ekaṃsikā</hi>ti na ekantikā nibbānāvahabhāvena nicchitā vaṭṭantogadhabhāvatoti adhippāyo. Ayamattho hi ‘‘kasmā cete poṭṭhapāda mayā ekaṃsikā dhammā desitā paññattā, ete poṭṭhapāda atthasaṃhitā…pe… nibbānāya saṃvattantī’’tiādisuttapadehi saṃsandati sametīti.</p>

<p rend="subhead">Ekaṃsikadhammavaṇṇanā</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="425"><hi rend="paranum">425</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi><hi rend="bold">‘‘Kasmā ārabhī’’</hi>ti kāraṇaṃ pucchitvā <hi rend="bold">‘‘aniyyānikabhāvadassanattha’’</hi>nti payojanaṃ vissajjitaṃ. Phale hi siddhe hetupi siddho hotīti, ayaṃ ācariyamati (dī. ni. ṭī. 1.425) apare pana ‘‘edisesu atthasaddo kāraṇe vattati, hetvatthe ca paccattavacanaṃ, tasmā <hi rend="bold">aniyyānikabhāvadassana</hi>nti ettha aniyyānikabhāvadassanakāraṇā’’ti atthamicchanti. <hi rend="bold">Paññāpitaniṭṭhāyā</hi>ti paveditavimuttimaggassa. Vaṭṭadukkhapariyosānaṃ gacchati etāyāti <hi rend="bold">niṭṭhā</hi>ti hi vimutti vuttā ‘‘goṭṭhā paṭṭhitagāvo’’ti (ma. ni. 1.156) <hi rend="bold">mahāsīhanādasuttapade</hi> viya ṭhā-saddassa gatiatthe pavattanato. Niṭṭhāmaggo ca idha uttarapadalopena ‘‘niṭṭhā’’ti adhippeto. Tasseva hi niyyānikatā, aniyyānikatā <pb ed="M" n="2.0392" /> ca vuccati, na niṭṭhāya. Niyyātīti <hi rend="bold">niyyānikā</hi> ya-kārassa ka-kāraṃ katvā. Anīyasaddo hi bahulaṃ kattutthābhidhāyako, na niyyānikā <hi rend="bold">aniyyānikā,</hi> tassā bhāvo tathā. <hi rend="bold">Niyyānaṃ</hi> vā niggamanaṃ nissaraṇaṃ, vaṭṭadukkhassa vūpasamoti attho, niyyānameva <hi rend="bold">niyyānikaṃ,</hi> na niyyānikaṃ <hi rend="bold">aniyyānikaṃ,</hi> so eva bhāvo sabhāvo <hi rend="bold">aniyyānikabhāvo,</hi> tassa dassanatthanti yojetabbaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">‘‘Sabbe hī’’</hi>tiādi tadatthavivaraṇaṃ. Amataṃ nibbānaṃ niṭṭhamiti paññapeti yathāti sambandho. <hi rend="bold">Lokathūpikādivasena niṭṭhaṃ paññapentī</hi>ti ‘‘nibbānaṃ nibbāna’’nti vacanasāmaññamattaṃ gahetvā tathā paññapenti. <hi rend="bold">Lokathūpikā</hi> nāma brahmabhūmi vuccati lokassa thūpikasadisatāparikappanena. Keci pana ‘‘nevasaññānāsaññāyatanabhūmiṃ lokathūpikā’’ti vadanti, tadayuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">aṭṭhakathāsu</hi> tathā avacanato. <hi rend="bold">Ādi</hi>saddena cettha ‘‘añño puriso, aññā pakatī’’ti pakatipurisantarāvabodho mokkho, buddhiādiguṇavinimuttassa attano asakattani avaṭṭhānaṃ mokkho, kāyavipattikati jātibandhānaṃ apavajjanavasena appavatto mokkho, parena purisena <pb ed="V" n="2.0345" /> palokatā mokkho, taṃsamīpatā mokkho, taṃsamāyogo mokkhoti evamādīnaṃ saṅgaho daṭṭhabbo. Tasmiṃ tasmiñhi samaye niṭṭhaṃ apaññapento nāma natthi. Brāhmaṇānaṃ paṭhamajjhānabrahmaloko niṭṭhā. Tattha hi nesaṃ niccābhiniveso yathā taṃ bakassa brahmuno, (ma. ni. 1.501) vekhanasāditāpasānaṃ ābhassarā, sañcayādiparibbājakānaṃ subhakiṇhā, ājīvakānaṃ ‘‘anantamānaso’’ti parikappito asaññībhavo. Imasmiṃ pana sāsane arahattaṃ niṭṭhā, sabbepi cete diṭṭhivasena brahmalokādīni arahattamaññanāya ‘‘nibbānaṃ nibbāna’’nti vacanasāmaññamattaṃ gahetvā tathā paññapenti, na pana paramatthato nesaṃsamaye nibbānapaññāpanassa labbhanatoti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘sā ca na niyyānikā’’</hi>tiādi. <hi rend="bold">Yathāpaññattā</hi>ti yena yena pakārena paññattā, paññattappakārā hutvāti attho. <hi rend="bold">Na niyyātī</hi>ti ‘‘yenākārena niṭṭhā pāpuṇīyatī’’ti tehi paveditā, tenākārena tassā apattabbatāya na niyyāti. <hi rend="bold">Paṇḍitehi paṭikkhittā</hi>ti ‘‘nāyaṃ niṭṭhā paṭipadā vaṭṭassa anatikkamanato’’ti buddhādīhi paṇḍitehi paṭikkhittā. <hi rend="bold">Nivattatī</hi>ti paṭikkhepakāraṇavacanaṃ, yasmā tehi paññattā niṭṭhā paṭipadā <pb ed="M" n="2.0393" /> na niyyāti na gacchati, aññadatthu taṃsamaṅginaṃ puggalaṃ saṃsāre eva paribbhamāpentī nivattati, tasmā paṇḍitehi paṭikkhittāti attho. <hi rend="bold">Ta</hi>nti aniyyānikabhāvaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Jānaṃ, passa</hi>nti ca puthuvacanavipariyāyoti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘jānantā passantā’’</hi>ti. Gacchantādisaddānañhi ‘‘yā pana bhikkhunī jānaṃ sabhikkhukaṃ ārāmaṃ anāpucchā paviseyyā’’tiādīsu (pāci. 1024) liṅgavasena vipariyāyo, jānantīti attho. ‘‘Yācaṃ adadamappiyo’’tiādīsu (pārā. 346; jā. 1.7.55) vibhattivasena, yācantassāti attho. Idha pana puthuvacanavasenāti veditabbaṃ. Padhānaṃ jānanaṃ nāma paccakkhato jānanaṃ tassa jeṭṭhabhāvato, dassanamappadhānaṃ tassa saṃsayānubandhattāti ayaṃ kamo vutto <hi rend="bold">‘‘jānaṃ passa’’</hi>nti. Tenettha jānanena dassanaṃ viseseti. Evañhi <hi rend="bold">diṭṭhapubbāni kho tasmiṃ loke manussānaṃ sarīrasaṇṭhānādīnī</hi>ti ekato adhippāyadassanaṃ sūpapannaṃ hoti. Ayañhetthādhippāyo ‘‘kiṃ tumhākaṃ ekantasukhe loke paccakkhato ñāṇadassanaṃ atthī’’ti. <hi rend="bold">Jāna</hi>nti vā tassa lokassa anumānavisayataṃ vuccati, <hi rend="bold">passa</hi>nti paccakkhato visayataṃ. Idaṃ vuttaṃ hoti ‘‘api tumhākaṃ loko paccakkhato ñāto, udāhu anumānato’’ti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Yasmā pana loke paccakkhabhūto attho indriyagocarabhāvena pākaṭo, tasmā pākaṭena atthena adhippāyaṃ dassetuṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘diṭṭhapubbānī’’</hi>tiādi vuttaṃ. Diṭṭhapadena vā dassanaṃ, tadanugatañca jānanaṃ gahetvā tadubhayeneva atthena adhippāyaṃ vibhāvetuṃ evaṃ vuttantipi daṭṭhabbaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Diṭṭhapubbānī</hi>ti hi <pb ed="V" n="2.0346" /> dassanena, tadanugatena ca ñāṇena gahitapubbānīti attho. Evañca katvā <hi rend="bold">‘‘sarīrasaṇṭhānādīnī’’</hi>ti samariyādavacanaṃ samatthitaṃ hoti. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Appāṭihīrakata’’</hi>nti ayaṃ anunāsikalopaniddesoti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘appāṭihīrakaṃ ta’’</hi>nti. Taṃ vacanaṃ appāṭihīrakaṃ sampajjatīti sambandho. Appāṭihīrapade anunāsikalopo, ‘‘kata’’nti ca ekaṃ padanti keci, tadayuttaṃ samāsasambhavato, anunāsikalopassa ca avattabbattā. Evamettha vaṇṇayanti – paṭipakkhaharaṇato paṭihāriyaṃ, tadeva <hi rend="bold">pāṭihāriyaṃ.</hi> Attanā uttaravirahitavacanaṃ. Pāṭihāriyamevettha <hi rend="bold">‘‘pāṭihīraka’’</hi>nti vuttaṃ parehi vuccamānauttarehi sauttarattā, na pāṭihīrakanti <hi rend="bold">appāṭihīrakaṃ. </hi> Virahattho <pb ed="M" n="2.0394" /> cettha <hi rend="bold">a</hi>-saddo. Tenāha <hi rend="bold">‘‘paṭiharaṇavirahita’’</hi>nti. Sauttarañhi vacanaṃ tena uttaravacanena paṭiharīyati viparivattīyati, tasmā uttaravacanaṃ paṭiharaṇaṃ nāma, tato virahitanti attho. Tasmā eva niyyānassa paṭiharaṇamaggassa abhāvato ‘‘aniyyānika’’nti vattabbataṃ labhati. Tena vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘aniyyānika’’</hi>nti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="426"><hi rend="paranum">426</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi><hi rend="bold">Vilāso</hi> itthilīḷā, yo ‘‘siṅgārabhāvajā kiriyā’’tipi vuccati. <hi rend="bold">Ākappo</hi> kesabandhavatthaggahaṇādiākāraviseso, vesasaṃvidhānaṃ vā. <hi rend="bold">Ādi</hi>saddena hāvādīnaṃ saṅgaho. <hi rend="bold">Hāvā</hi>ti hi cāturiyaṃ vuccati.</p>

<p rend="subhead">Tayoattapaṭilābhavaṇṇanā</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="428"><hi rend="paranum">428</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi> Āhito ahaṃmāno etthāti <hi rend="bold">attā,</hi> attabhāvoti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘attabhāvapaṭilābho’’</hi>ti. Kathaṃ dassetīti vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘oḷārikattabhāvapaṭilābhenā’’</hi>tiādi. <hi rend="bold">Kāmabhavaṃ dasseti</hi> itarabhavadvayattabhāvato oḷārikattā. <hi rend="bold">Rūpabhavaṃ dasseti</hi> jhānamanena nibbattaṃ hutvā rūpībhāvena upalabbhanato. <hi rend="bold">Arūpabhavaṃ dasseti</hi> arūpībhāvena upalabbhanato. <hi rend="bold">Saṃkilesikā dhammā nāma dvādasa akusalacittuppādā</hi> tadabhāve kassaci saṃkilesassa asambhavato. <hi rend="bold">Vodāniyā dhammā nāma samathavipassanā</hi> tāsaṃ vasena sabbaso cittavodānassa sijjhanato.</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="429"><hi rend="paranum">429</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi> Paṭipakkhadhammānaṃ asamucchede sati na kadācipi anavajjadhammānaṃ vā pāripūrī, vepullaṃ vā sambhavati, samucchede pana sati sambhavatīti maggaphalapaññānameva gahaṇaṃ daṭṭhabbaṃ, tā hi sakiṃ paripuṇṇāpi aparihīnadhammattā paripuṇṇā eva bhavanti. <hi rend="bold">Taruṇapītī</hi>ti uppannamattā aladdhāsevanā dubbalapīti. <hi rend="bold">Balavatuṭṭhī</hi>ti punappunaṃ uppattiyā laddhāsevanā uparivisesādhigamassa paccayabhūtā thiratarā pīti. Idāni saṅkhepato piṇḍatthaṃ dassento <hi rend="bold">‘‘kiṃ vutta’’</hi>ntiādimāha <pb ed="V" n="2.0347" />. Tattha yaṃ vihāraṃ sayaṃ…pe… viharissatīti avocumhāti sambandho. Idaṃ vuttaṃ hoti – yaṃ vihāraṃ ‘‘saṃkilesikavodāniyadhammānaṃ pahānābhivuddhiniṭṭhaṃ paññāya pāripūrivepullabhūtaṃ imasmiṃyeva attabhāve aparappaccayena ñāṇena paccakkhato sampādetvā <pb ed="M" n="2.0395" /> viharissatī’’ti kathayimhāti. <hi rend="bold">Tatthā</hi>ti tasmiṃ vihāre. <hi rend="bold">Tassā</hi>ti ovādakarassa bhikkhuno. <hi rend="bold">Evaṃ viharato</hi>ti vuttappakārena viharaṇahetu, viharantassa vā. Tannimittaṃ <hi rend="bold">pāmojjaṃ,</hi> pamodappabhavā <hi rend="bold">pīti,</hi> tappaccayabhūtaṃ <hi rend="bold">passaddhidvayaṃ,</hi> tathā sūpaṭṭhitā <hi rend="bold">sati,</hi> ukkaṃsagatatāya <hi rend="bold">uttamañāṇaṃ. Sukho ca vihāro</hi> bhavissatīti yojanā. Kāyacittapassaddhī hi ‘‘passaddhī’’ti vuttā, ayameva vā pāṭho. ‘‘Nāmakāyapassaddhī’’tipi paṭhanti, tadayuttameva passaddhidvayassa avinābhāvato. Kasmā panesa sukho vihāroti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘sabbavihāresū’’</hi>tiādi, sabbesupi iriyāpathavihārādīsu santapaṇītatāya imasseva sukhattā ‘‘sukho vihāro’’ti vattabbataṃ arahatīti vuttaṃ hoti. Kathaṃ sukhoti vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘upasanto paramamadhuro’’</hi>ti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Paṭhamajjhāne paṭiladdhamatte hīnabhāvato pīti dubbalā pāmojjapakkhikā, subhāvite pana tasmiṃ paguṇe sā paṇītā balavabhāvato paripuṇṇakiccā pītīti vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘paṭhamajjhāne pāmojjādayo chapi dhammā labbhantī’’</hi>ti. <hi rend="bold">Pāmojjaṃ nivattatī</hi>ti dubbalapītisaṅkhātaṃ pāmojjaṃ chasu dhammesu nivattati hāyati. Vitakkavicārakkhobhavirahitena hi catukkanayavibhatte dutiyajjhāne sabbadā pīti balavatī eva hoti, na paṭhamajjhāne viya kadāci dubbalāti evaṃ vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Pīti nivattati</hi> tappahāneneva tatiyajjhānassa labbhanato. ‘‘Sukho vihāro’’ti iminā samādhi gahitoti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘tathā catutthe’’</hi>ti. Ye pana ‘‘sukho vihāro’ti etena sukhaṃ gahita’’nti vadanti, tesaṃ matena santavuttitāya upekkhāpi catutthajjhāne ‘‘sukha’’micceva bhāsitāti (vibha. aṭṭha. 232; visuddhi. 2.644; mahāni. aṭṭha. 27; paṭi. ma. aṭṭha. 105) katvā tathā vuttanti daṭṭhabbaṃ. Imasmiṃyeva <hi rend="bold">dīghanikāye</hi> (dī. ni. 1.432; 3.166, 358) āgataṃ anekadhā desanānayamuddharitvā idha desitanayaṃ niyametuṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘imesū’’</hi>tiādi vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Suddha…pe… kathita</hi>nti uparimaggaṃ akathetvā kevalaṃ vipassanāpādakameva jhānaṃ kathitaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Catūhi…pe… kathitā</hi>ti vipassanāpādakabhāvena jhānāni kathetvā tato paraṃ vipassanāpubbakā cattāropi maggā kathitā. <hi rend="bold">Catutthajjhānikaphalasamāpatti kathitā</hi>ti paṭhamajjhānikādikā phalasamāpattiyo akathetvā catutthajjhānikā eva phalasamāpatti kathitā. <hi rend="bold">Pītivevacanameva katvā</hi>ti dvinnaṃ pītīnaṃ <pb ed="M" n="2.0396" /> ekasmiṃ cittuppāde anuppajjanato pāmojjaṃ pītivevacanameva katvā, tadubhayaṃ abhedato katvāti vuttaṃ hoti. Pītisukhānaṃ apariccattattā, ‘‘sukho vihāro’’ti ca sātisayassa sukhavihārassa gahitattā <hi rend="bold">‘‘dutiyajjhānikaphalasamāpatti nāma</hi><pb ed="V" n="2.0348" /><hi rend="bold">kathitā’’</hi>ti vuttaṃ. Kāmaṃ paṭhamajjhānepi pītisukhāni labbhanti, tāni pana vitakkavicāraparikkhobhena na tattha santapaṇītāni, idha ca santapaṇītāneva adhippetāni, tasmā dutiyajjhānikā eva phalasamāpatti gahitā, na paṭhamajjhānikāti daṭṭhabbaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="432-437"><hi rend="paranum">432-437</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi><hi rend="bold">Vibhāvanattho</hi>ti pakāsanattho sarūpato nirūpanattho ‘‘na samaṇo gotamo brāhmaṇe jiṇṇe …pe… abhivādeti vā paccuṭṭheti vā āsanena vā nimantetī’’tiādīsu (a. ni. 8.11; pārā. 2) viya. Tenāha <hi rend="bold">‘‘ayaṃ so’’</hi>tiādi. ‘‘Ayaṃ attapaṭilābho so evā’’ti evaṃ sarūpato vibhāvetvā pakāsetvā. <hi rend="bold">Aya</hi>nti hi bhagavatā pubbe vuttaṃ attapaṭilābhaṃ āsannapaccakkhabhāvena paccāmasati, <hi rend="bold">so</hi>ti pana parehi pucchiyamānaṃ parammukhabhāvena. <hi rend="bold">Na naṃ evaṃ vadāmā</hi>ti ettha <hi rend="bold">na</hi>nti oḷārikamattapaṭilābhaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Sappāṭihīrakata</hi>nti ettha pubbe vuttanayena attho veditabbo. Parehi coditavacanapaṭihārakaṃ sauttaravacanaṃ sappāṭihīrakanti hi ayameva viseso. <hi rend="bold">Tuccho</hi>ti musā abhūto. <hi rend="bold">So</hi>ti manomayo, arūpo vā attapaṭilābho. <hi rend="bold">Svevā</hi>ti so eva oḷāriko attapaṭilābho. <hi rend="bold">Tasmiṃ samaye sacco hotī</hi>ti tasmiṃ paccuppannasamaye vijjamāno hoti. <hi rend="bold">Attapaṭilābhotveva niyyātesī</hi>ti attapaṭilābhasaddena tathā eva pariyosāpesi, na pana naṃ ‘‘attapaṭilābho’’ti saṅkhyaṃ gacchatīti paññattiṃ sarūpato nīharitvā dassesīti adhippāyo. <hi rend="bold">Rūpādayo cettha dhammā</hi>ti rūpavedanādayo eva ettha loke sabhāvadhammā. <hi rend="bold">Nāmamattameta</hi>nti rūpādike pañcakkhandhe upādāya nāmapaññattimattametaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘attapaṭilābho’’</hi>ti. <hi rend="bold">Evarūpā vohārā</hi>ti ‘‘oḷāriko attapaṭilābho’’tiādivohārā. <hi rend="bold">Nāmapaññattivasenā</hi>ti nāmabhūtapaññattimattavasena. ‘‘Attapaṭilābho’ti saṅkhyaṃ gacchatī’’ti <hi rend="bold">niyyātanatthaṃ.</hi></p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="438"><hi rend="paranum">438</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi><hi rend="bold">Evañca pana vatvā</hi>ti rūpādike upādāya paññattimattametaṃ attapaṭilābhoti imamatthaṃ ‘‘yasmiṃ citta samaye’’tiādinā vatvā. <hi rend="bold">Paṭipucchitvā</hi>ti <pb ed="M" n="2.0397" /> yathā pare puccheyyuṃ, tathā kālavibhāgato paṭipadāni pucchitvā. <hi rend="bold">Vinayanattha</hi>nti yathāpucchitassa atthassa ñāpanavasena vinayanatthāya. <hi rend="bold">Ye te atītā dhammā</hi>ti atītasamaye atītattapaṭilābhassa upādānabhūtā rūpādayo dhammā. <hi rend="bold">Te etarahi natthi</hi> niruddhattā. Tato eva <hi rend="bold">‘‘ahesu’’nti saṅkhyaṃ gatā</hi>. <hi rend="bold">Tasmā</hi>ti upādānassa atītasmiṃyeva samaye labbhanato. <hi rend="bold">Sopī</hi>ti tadupādāno <hi rend="bold">me attapaṭilābho</hi>pi. <hi rend="bold">Tasmiṃyeva samaye</hi>ti atīte eva samaye. <hi rend="bold">Sacco ahosī</hi>ti bhūto vijjamāno viya ahosi. <hi rend="bold">Anāgatapaccuppannāna</hi>nti anāgatānañcevapaccuppannānañca rūpādidhammānaṃ upādānabhūtānaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Tadā abhāvā</hi>ti tasmiṃ atītasamaye abhāvā avijjamānattā. Tadupādānabhūto <pb ed="V" n="2.0349" /><hi rend="bold">anāgato, paccuppanno</hi> ca attapaṭilābho <hi rend="bold">tasmiṃ atīta</hi> samaye <hi rend="bold">mogho</hi> tuccho musā natthīti attho. <hi rend="bold">Atthato</hi>ti paññattiatthato. <hi rend="bold">Nāmamattamevā</hi>ti samaññāmattameva. Paramatthato anupalabbhamānattā <hi rend="bold">attapaṭilābhaṃ paṭijānāti.</hi></p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">‘‘Eseva nayo’’</hi>ti iminā ye te anāgatā dhammā, te etarahi natthi, ‘‘bhavissantī’’ti pana saṅkhyaṃ gatā, tasmā sopi me attapaṭilābho tasmiṃyeva samaye sacco bhavissati. Atītapaccuppannānaṃ pana dhammānaṃ tadā abhāvā tasmiṃ samaye ‘‘mogho atīto, mogho paccuppanno’’ti evaṃ atthato nāmamattameva attapaṭilābhaṃ paṭijānāti. Ye ime paccuppannā dhammā, te etarahi ‘‘atthī’’ti saṅkhyaṃ gatā, tasmā yvāyaṃ me attapaṭilābho, so idāni sacco hoti. Atītānāgatānaṃ pana dhammānaṃ adhunā abhāvā etarahi ‘‘mogho atīto, mogho anāgato’’ti evaṃ atthato nāmamattameva attapaṭilābhaṃ paṭijānātīti imamatthaṃ atidisati.</p>

<p rend="bodytext" n="439-443"><hi rend="paranum">439-443</hi><hi rend="dot">.</hi><hi rend="bold">Saṃsanditu</hi>nti samānetuṃ. <hi rend="bold">Gavā</hi>ti gāvito. <hi rend="bold">Tatthā</hi>ti khīrādīsu pañcagorasesu. <hi rend="bold">Yasmiṃ samaye khīraṃ hotī</hi>ti yasmiṃ kāle bhūtupādāyasaññitaṃ upādānavisesaṃ upādāya khīrapaññatti hoti. <hi rend="bold">Na tasmiṃ…pe… gacchati</hi> khīrapaññattiupādānassa bhūtupādāyarūpassa dadhiādipaññattiyā anupādānato. Paṭiniyatavatthukā hi etā lokasamaññā. Tenāha <hi rend="bold">‘‘ye dhamme upādāyā’’</hi>tiādi. Saṅkhāyati kathīyati etāyāti <hi rend="bold">saṅkhā.</hi> Attaṃ nīharitvā uccanti vadanti etāyāti <hi rend="bold">nirutti.</hi> Taṃ tadatthaṃ namanti sattā etenāti <hi rend="bold">nāmaṃ,</hi> tathā voharanti etenāti <pb ed="M" n="2.0398" /><hi rend="bold">vohāro,</hi> paññattiyeva. ‘‘Yasmiṃ samaye’’tiādinā khīre vuttanayaṃ dadhiādīsupi <hi rend="bold">‘‘esa nayo sabbatthā’’</hi>ti atidisati.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Samanujānanamattakānī</hi>ti ‘‘idaṃ khīraṃ, idaṃ dadhī’’tiādinā tādisesu bhūtupādāyarūpavisesesu loke paramparāgataṃ paññattiṃ appaṭikkhipitvā samanujānanaṃ viya paccayavisesavisiṭṭhaṃ rūpādikhandhasamūhaṃ upādāya ‘‘oḷāriko attapaṭilābho’’ti ca ‘‘manomayo attapaṭilābho’’ti ca ‘‘arūpo attapaṭilābho’’ti ca tathā tathā samanujānanamattakāni, na ca tabbinimutto upādānato añño koci paramatthato atthīti vuttaṃ hoti. <hi rend="bold">Niruttimattakānī</hi>ti saddaniruttiyā gahaṇūpāyamattakāni. ‘‘Satto phasso’’tiādinā hi saddaggahaṇuttarakālaṃ tadanuviddhapaṇṇattiggahaṇamukheneva tadatthāvabodho. Tathā cāhu –</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Vacanapathamattakānī</hi>ti tasseva vevacanaṃ. Niruttiyeva hi aññesampi diṭṭhānugatimāpajjantānaṃ kāraṇaṭṭhena <hi rend="bold">vacanapatho. Vohāramattakānī</hi>ti tathā tathā vohāramattakāni. <hi rend="bold">Nāmapaṇṇattimattakānī</hi>ti tasseva pariyāyo, taṃtaṃnāmapaññāpanamattakānīti attho. <hi rend="bold">Sabbameta</hi>nti ‘‘attapaṭilābho’’ti vā ‘‘satto’’ti vā ‘‘poso’’ti vā sabbametaṃ <hi rend="bold">vohāramattakaṃ.</hi> Kasmāti ce, paramatthato anupalabbhanatoti dassetuṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘yasmā’’</hi>tiādi vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Suñño</hi>ti paramatthato vivitto.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Yajjevaṃ kasmā cesā buddhehipi vuccatīti codanaṃ sodhento <hi rend="bold">‘‘buddhānaṃ panā’’</hi>tiādimāha. Sammutiyā vohārassa kathanaṃ <hi rend="bold">sammutikathā.</hi> Paramatthassa sabhāvadhammassa kathanaṃ <hi rend="bold">paramatthakathā.</hi> Paramatthasannissitakathābhāvato aniccādikathāpi <hi rend="bold">‘‘paramatthakathā’’</hi>ti vuttā. Paramatthadhammoyeva hi ‘‘anicco, dukkho’’ti ca vuccati, na sammutidhammo.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Aniccā sabbe saṅkhārā, dukkhānattā ca saṅkhatā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Nibbānañceva paññatti, anattā iti nicchayā’’ ti. (pari. 257) –</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Vacanato panesa ‘‘anattā’’ti vuccati, khandhādipaññatti pana tajjāpaññatti viya paramatthasannissayā, āsannatarā ca, puggalapaññattiādayo viya na dūre <pb ed="M" n="2.0399" />, tasmā khandhādikathāpi <hi rend="bold">‘‘paramatthakathā’’</hi>ti vuttā, khandhādisīsena vā tadupādānasabhāvadhammā eva gahitāti daṭṭhabbaṃ. Nanu ca sabhāvadhammāpi sammutimukheneva desanamārohanti, na paramatthamukhena, tasmā sabbāpi desanā sammutikathāva siyāti? Nayidamevaṃ kathetabbadhammavibhāgena kathāvibhāgassa adhippetattā, na ca saddo kenaci pavattinimittena vinā atthaṃ pakāsetīti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Kasmā cevaṃ dubbidhā buddhānaṃ kathā pavattatīti anuyogaṃ kāraṇavibhāvanena pariharituṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘tattha yo’’</hi>tiādi vuttaṃ. Atthaṃ <hi rend="bold">vijānituṃ</hi> catusaccaṃ <hi rend="bold">paṭivijjhituṃ</hi> vaṭṭato <hi rend="bold">niyyātuṃ arahatta</hi>saṅkhātaṃ <hi rend="bold">jayaggāhaṃ gahetuṃ sakkoti.</hi> Yasmā paramatthakathāya eva saccasampaṭivedho, ariyasaccakathā ca sikhāppattā desanā, tasmā vineyyapuggalavasena ādito sammutikathaṃ kathentopi <pb ed="V" n="2.0351" /> bhagavā parato paramatthakathaṃyeva kathetīti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘tassā’’</hi>tiādi. ‘‘Āditova sammutikathaṃ kathetī’’ti hi vadanto parato paramatthakathampi kathetīti dīpeti, itarattha pana ‘‘āditova kathetī’’ti avadanto sabbatthapīti. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Tathā’’</hi>tiādinā kathādvayakathane pariyāyantaraṃ vibhāveti. <hi rend="bold">Bodhetvā</hi>ti veneyyajjhāsayānurūpaṃ tathā tathā desetabbamatthaṃ jānāpetvā, iminā pana imamatthaṃ dasseti – katthaci sammutikathāpubbikā paramatthakathā hoti puggalajjhāsayavasena, katthaci paramatthakathāpubbikā sammutikathā, iti vineyyadammakusalassa satthu veneyyajjhāsayavasena tathā tathā desanā pavattatīti. Sabbattha pana bhagavā dhammataṃ avijahanto eva sammutimanuvattati, sammutiṃ apariccajantoyeva dhammataṃ vibhāveti, naṃ tattha abhinivesātidhāvanāni. Vuttañhetaṃ bhagavatā ‘‘janapadaniruttiṃ nābhiniviseyya, samaññaṃ nātidhāveyyā’’ti (dī. ni. ṭī. 1.439-443).</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Paṭhamaṃ sammutikathākathanaṃ pana veneyyavasena yebhuyyena buddhānamāciṇṇanti taṃ kāraṇena saddhiṃ dassento <hi rend="bold">‘‘pakatiyā panā’’</hi>tiādimāha. <hi rend="bold">Lūkhākārā</hi>ti veneyyānamanabhisambujjhanavasena lūkhasadisā. Nanu ca sammuti nāma paramatthato avijjamānattā abhūtā, taṃ kathaṃ buddhā kathentīti vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘sammutikathaṃ kathentāpī’’</hi>tiādi. <hi rend="bold">Saccamevā</hi>ti tathameva <pb ed="M" n="2.0400" />. <hi rend="bold">Sabhāvamevā</hi>ti sammutibhāvena taṃsabhāvameva. Tenāha <hi rend="bold">‘‘amusāvā’’</hi>ti. Paramatthassa pana saccādibhāve vattabbameva natthi.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Ko panimesaṃ sammutiparamatthadhammānaṃ visesoti? Yasmiṃ bhinne, buddhiyā vā avayavavinibbhoge kate na taṃsaññā, so ghaṭapaṭādippabhedo sammuti, tabbipariyāyato paramattho. Na hi kakkhaḷaphusanādisabhāve ayaṃ nayo labbhati. Evaṃ santepi vuttanayena sammuti ca saccasabhāvā evāti āha <hi rend="bold">‘‘duve saccāni akkhāsī’’</hi>tiādi. Tattha <hi rend="bold">duve saccāni akkhāsī</hi>ti nānādesabhāsākusalo tiṇṇaṃ vedānamatthasaṃvaṇṇanako ācariyo viya nānāvidhasammutiparamatthakusalo bhagavā veneyyajjhāsayānurūpaṃ duveyeva saccāni akkhāsīti attho. Taṃ sarūpato, parimāṇato ca dasseti <hi rend="bold">‘‘sammutiṃ paramatthañca, tatiyaṃ nūpalabbhatī’’</hi>ti iminā. <hi rend="bold">Vadataṃ varo</hi>ti sabbesaṃ vadantānaṃ varo. Lokasaṅketamattasiddhā <hi rend="bold">sammuti.</hi> Paramo uttamo aviparīto yathābhūtasabhāvo <hi rend="bold">paramattho.</hi></p>

<p rend="bodytext">Idāni nesaṃ saccasabhāvaṃ saha kāraṇena dassetuṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘saṅketavacana’’</hi>nti gāthā vuttā. Yasmā lokasammutikāraṇaṃ, tasmā saṅketavacanaṃ saccaṃ, yasmā ca dhammānaṃ bhūtalakkhaṇaṃ, tasmā paramatthavacanaṃ <pb ed="V" n="2.0352" /> saccanti yojanā. <hi rend="bold">Lokasammutikāraṇa</hi>nti hi saṅketavacanassa saccabhāve kāraṇadassanaṃ, lokasiddhā sammuti saṅketavacanassa avisaṃvādanatāya kāraṇanti attho, visaṃvādanābhāvato saṅketavacanaṃ saccanti vuttaṃ hoti. <hi rend="bold">Dhammānaṃ bhūtalakkhaṇa</hi>nti ca paramatthavacanassa saccabhāve kāraṇadassanaṃ. Sabhāvadhammānaṃ yo bhūto aviparīto sabhāvo, tassa lakkhaṇaṃ aṅganaṃ ñāpananti attho, yāthāvato avisaṃvādanavasena pavattanato paramatthavacanaṃ saccanti adhippāyo. <hi rend="bold">Anaṅgaṇasuttaṭīkāyaṃ</hi> pana ācariyeneva nissakkavacanena padamulliṅgetvā <hi rend="bold">‘‘lokasammutikāraṇā</hi>ti lokasamaññaṃ nissāya pavattanato. <hi rend="bold">Dhammāna</hi>nti sabhāvadhammānaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Bhūtakāraṇā</hi>ti yathābhūtasabhāvaṃ nissāya pavattanato’’ti vuttaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Aññattha pana –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Tasmā voharakusalassa, lokanāthassa satthuno;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Sammutiṃ voharantassa, musāvādo na jāyatī’’ti. (ma. ni. aṭṭha. 1.57; a. ni. aṭṭha. 1.170; itivu. aṭṭha. 24) –</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Ayampi <pb ed="M" n="2.0401" /> guṇaparidīpanī gāthā dissati. Tattha <hi rend="bold">tasmā</hi>ti saccassa duvidhattā, saṅketavacanassa vā saccabhāvato. <hi rend="bold">Sammutiṃ voharantassā</hi>ti ‘‘puggalo satto’’tiādinā lokasamaññaṃ kathentassa <hi rend="bold">musāvādo</hi> nāma <hi rend="bold">na jāyatī</hi>ti attho. Apica ‘‘aṭṭhahi kāraṇehi bhagavā puggala kathaṃ katheti hirottappadīpanatthaṃ, kammassakatādīpanatthaṃ, paccattapurisakāradīpanatthaṃ, ānantariyadīpanatthaṃ, brahmavihāradīpanatthaṃ, pubbenivāsadīpanatthaṃ, dakkhiṇāvisuddhidīpanatthaṃ, lokasammutiyā appahānatthañcā’’tiādinā (ma. ni. aṭṭha. 1.57; a. ni. aṭṭha. 1.170; itivu. aṭṭha. 24; kathā. anuṭī. 1) tattha tattha vuttakāraṇampi āharitvā idha vattabbaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Yadi tathāgato paramatthasaccaṃ sammadeva abhisambujjhitvā ṭhitopi lokasamaññābhūtaṃ sammutisaccaṃ gahetvāva vadati, evañcettha ko lokiyamahājanehi visesoti vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘yāhī’’</hi>tiādi, ayaṃ pāḷiyaṃ sambandho. Idaṃ vuttaṃ hoti – lokiyamahājano appahīnaparāmāsattā ‘‘etaṃ mamā’’tiādinā parāmasanto voharati. Tathāgato pana sabbaso pahīnaparāmāsattā aparāmasantova yasmā lokasamaññāhi vinā lokiyo attho lokena dubbiññeyyo, tasmā tāhi taṃ voharati. Tathā voharanto ca attano desanāvilāsena veneyyasatte <pb ed="V" n="2.0353" /> paramatthasacce patiṭṭhāpetīti. <hi rend="bold">Desanaṃ vinivaṭṭetvā</hi>ti heṭṭhā vuttāya diṭṭhābhinivesapaṭisaññuttāya vaṭṭakathāya vinivattetvā vivecetvā. <hi rend="bold">Arahattanikūṭena niṭṭhāpesī</hi>ti ‘‘aparāmasa’’nti iminā padena taṇhāmānaparāmāsappahānakittanena tappahāyakaarahattasaṅkhātanikūṭena desanaṃ pariyosāpesi. Yaṃ panettha atthato na vibhattaṃ, taṃ suviññeyyameva.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Iti sumaṅgalavilāsiniyā dīghanikāyaṭṭhakathāya paramasukhumagambhīraduranubodhatthaparidīpanāya suvimalavipulapaññāveyyattiyajananāya sādhuvilāsiniyā nāma līnatthapakāsaniyā poṭṭhapādasuttavaṇṇanāya līnatthapakāsanā.</p>
